Radicalized by my friends and family who say they follow Jesus and believe they're entitled to their rights. Nowhere does Jesus say we are entitled to our rights. It's a lie white evangelicals are raised in, and it's the most un judeo/christian belief.

I find it amazing too that Republicans’ boycott of Washington isn’t the biggest story of them all.

The shutdown can’t end if they refuse to show up for work.

When this country's christian elite fall in line behind the most amoral person in America I learn not to trust their theology.

Paul never met Jesus but he's waxing about grace & telling the next gen to evangelize VIPs.

Jesus said belief was food, healing, clothing; and he never chased converts.
Helpful 🧵 below.

Every use of the Bible to moralize stripping rights from people is antithetical to the grand theme of the Bible.
Abolitionists of slavery argued the spirit of the Bible didn't support slavery; Literalists cited one verse and waited.

Ham = inferior
Babel = separate but equal
So there’s a phenomenon in religious apologetics called “proof texting”: When you have some doctrinal precommitment that doesn’t really have any clear scriptural basis (like “the Bible condems abortion”) and stitch together a bunch of lines ripped out of context from wildly disparate passages…
Unitary executive theory is not wearing well, to say the least. Soon the judges and legal scholars who hatched it (based mostly on some tiny bits and pieces of constitutional text and a tendentious historical account) are going to be lepers. And they are going to richly deserve it.
"Their cruelty made them feel good, it made them feel proud, it made them feel happy. And it made them feel closer to one another…Their shared laughter at the suffering of others is an adhesive that binds them to one another, and to Trump"

Blind protester dragged, detained by feds says agents picked ‘the weakest person they could find’

➖“I remember screaming for somebody to help me,” he said. “I thought I was going to die.”

But he’s going back, as protests outside the Portland ICE facility continue.

Does anyone else remember the number of articles post Bush - Gore warning Republicans that they *had* to broaden their base; *had* to attract more Latinos; or they'd never win another election.

They're doing it by breaking norms and laws.
How is this different than the klan grabbing people that were in the wrong place at the wrong time?

We've lost count and in danger of forgetting the number of times the Right has trivialized bad behavior, even moralizing it as good.
We have to come to terms with what they mean by "America".

Let's not look past the obvious, maga is 99.99% white people – "America First" in their interpretation means Whites first.

Its not christian, Black and Hispanic christians didn't clear 10% and 25% support respectively, whites were 85%.

Either they're invested in the racism or they're frozen by fear of 'the slippery slope' – that belief that honesty will demand systemic change and they'd rather have control of what steps are taken towards change.
Why are scholars researching the far right still so reluctant to use racism as a defining concept?

It was problematic when racism was disguised under a thin veneer of twisted liberal discourses, but now it's pretty much in the open I'm surprised there still appears to be a reluctance
White evangelicals, using me: ive supposedly accepted and learning a radically different set of values, values that invert the traditional. If even a hundred thousand others (out of 20m) lived by Jesus's values, we'd have good things.

The reality is, WE are about their agenda.
I'd say it's because he accepts and trusts the way things are: the system. After all, it's worked for centuries, believers in it would vet any replacement hard.

I couldn't roll my eyes as far as this deserves. They want to be treated with respect, please, and thank you but don't know what it is.
Q: "What does it say that POTUS over the weekend released a video of him pooping on the American people?"

Speaker Mike Johnson: "The president uses social media to make a point…He is using satire to make a point. He is not calling for the murder of his political opponents."
3/I've seen quotes of "These people are nuts."

In a sense I agree, in their 'faith', empathy must be limited, responsibility for the vulnerable is limited.

But their 'faith' is very pragmatic, their god gives them rights & freedoms and denies others.
2/what maga fears most is that liberals will take stuff away from them..."take away our guns."

Religion is their prime weapon. And we don't contest it. Most of these people never darken a church door, they worship whiteness. It's the antithesis of Jesus and we let them abuse Jesus.
Maga objectively does not respect God or Jesus.

Jesus said "If you love me, you will obey my commandments," and in another place says, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me".

They otoh, deny Jesus's laws apply to them and enforce their own laws.
Chip Roy: "The truth is the marxist, radicals, and Islamists the Democratic Party promoted this weekend, they cannot handle the truth. The truth is that there is a king and that king is Jesus. And the president has been willing to say it, & Charlie Kirk was willing to say it & he got killed for it."
It does seem as if MAGA is entrenching for the long run. The question is: what could move white people to single out people of color for punishment?
I’m not saying they’re Nazis. I’m saying being a Nazi isn’t a deal-breaker for them. I’m saying at a minimum they’re Good Germans.

the republican base will literally laugh at it and publicly tell people it's nothing, get over it, stop being so serious.
“The President posted an AI video portraying himself wearing a crown, flying a fighter jet, and dropping huge quantities of manure on protesting Americans. What do you think of the President’s message, and what do you think it says about his state of mind?”
Not a single mention of this across the Sunday shows as far as I could tell
"locker room banter" was what the republicans called the Access Hollywood tape.
