Fenway health in Boston has stopped providing gender affirming care to trans youth.

I was previously on the board of this organization and I've never been so disgusted with their leadership cowardly capitulating like this.

Before you shout “Babbel uses AI too”, their use appears to be fully limited to a single tool within the platform and is easy to avoid in favor of the actual curriculum.

I had wanted 2025 to be a real language-learning year for me and it hasn’t panned out that way, but I’m going to recommit to learning Norsk and Français after Matilda closes, and it’ll be fully without Duo.

I canceled my paid Duo subscription the day I saw that and moved to Babbel, as well as a little bit of Mango through my library. Babbel gets harder faster but definitely makes you synthesize content in a way Duo never even approached.

Just a quick reminder to the people sharing their Duolingo progress screens: the company explicitly said they’ll be using AI to replace contractors, hire full-time staff, and conduct performance reviews.
