The last 24 hours I lurked on Twitter more than anytime since I quit it, and one thing dawned on me - I think there are a lot of libs who actually just enjoy "the fight" .. there is something cathartic about dunking or replying to a conservative making a dumb point, and you obviously lose that here

This is one of the biggest issues. Using a poor medium to say it and not saying it repeatedly top down.

COLLINS: The Dept of Energy just canceled $1b for a hydrogen hub that covers Montana. Is that taking away good-paying jobs?

SHEEHY: Of course it is. We want govt to be open

C: But the Energy Secretary says he would've pulled that funding even if govt was open

S: ... Well, that's unfortunate

Can't really condemn when every Republicans congressional office is stacked with these guys.

Further evidence is that zero Republicans will condemn this

Also not to relitigate the fascism debate yet again, but seemingly every Republican staffer under 40 expressing admiration for Adolf Hitler should be pretty conclusive evidence of the fascistic dimensions of the modern American right.

Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.

There are a couple frustrating battles but a lot of that is me being poorly prepped for the fights

Chrono Trigger was good but felt aged gameplay wise.

Haven't finished yet but so far Final Fantasy Tactics gameplay doesn't feel like it's aged poorly although I'm playing the new remaster.
adotsad.bsky.social
FF Tactics is one that I've thought about trying! Probably leaning towards trying Chrono Trigger first tho

There is no conceivable argument that these ships, even if we assume they were carrying narcotics, could not be dealt with in some other way. I think we can just drop the caveats and say: This is mass murder.
chrislhayes.bsky.social
Unless and until some kind of compelling legal and moral argument is presented as to why this is a legitimate use of deadly force, this is just…mass murder.

Greg Bovino, Kristi Noem, and DHS need to answer for their unchecked attacks on Chicago residents.

ICE is an out-of-control danger to our peaceful communities.

The images from the Sun-Times today speak for themselves.

The servicemembers who are conducting these strikes need to be told, explicitly, by Dems in Congress that they have criminal liability, because they do

Trump has no legal authority, "standing" or otherwise, to order the killing of people in international waters for unsubstantiated accusations of non-capital crimes.

Calling them "narcoterrorists" does not make it right or legal to order their deaths without any due process.

Don't galaxy-brain this.

Contrary to discourse on certain parts of this site, the VRA being overturned would be horrific for Democrats and democracy as a whole.

It would not be as bad as creating 30 new safe GOP seats — but it would not *help* Democrats. They still net seats because of it.

No I think she meant that it's bad that Republicans have been taken over by fascists like this and that it would be better if The Bulwark types and Liz Cheney were in control of the party. Like it wasn't really that deep of a comment.
veryimportant.lawyer
everyone needs to internalize that this is just how all republicans are and when nancy pelosi said "the country needs a strong republican party" she meant that more people like this should be powerful. they are all like this! they all think just like this and like trump and they love it and it's fun

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

Young people in general can be pretty uh.. unfiltered. Now imagine what kids must be like that self-identify as Republicans in the Trump era lol
chancephillips.bsky.social
A genuinely good piece of reportage in Politico today sheds some light on young Republicans’ love of racial epithets and other slurs. I definitely recommend reading it, but as I’ve explained before, I doubt this will lead to any sort of a reckoning for Republicans.

And the stuff about Platner being a potential Fetterman clone also seem like a stretch. I've seen people whine that he said one Republican he admires is Hawley. Ya Hawley sucks, but if you ask any Democrat to name a Republican they admire, it'll be bad one, because all Republicans are bad!
adotsad.bsky.social
See this is dumb? Millis seems fine and she's proven she can win statewide. There is value in that vs. Collins! But instead of being skeptical of a near 80 year old we have to do the whole 2016 framing.

It's really simple

Voters want an opposition party that will fight for them, and democracy, like there's no tomorrow

Dem elites want a members-only social club where polite, dues-paying members who they like to see at cocktail parties get rewarded with plum roles www.politico.com/news/2025/10...
Chuck Schumer gets his preferred candidate, Janet Mills, in crowded Maine Senate race
Schumer had been aggressively recruiting Mills to challenge Republican Susan Collins.

adotsad.bsky.social
Millis vs. Platner is going to get warped into relitigating 2016 again because that's all people care about online. Millis is old old (she'll be 79 when entering office) and Platner is a complete unknown/untested. That's what the primary comes down to, not some weird ideology test or "DNC rigging"

ah okay thought there was something new on them going after ACA protections
adotsad.bsky.social
I think its fine-ish that she's running because there will be a primary but I don't think I'd vote for her (if I was in Maine) unless the opponents are glaringly bad. 79 when entering the Senate is *REALLYYYYY old*. You are effectively voting for her Chief of Staff to be Senator.
