For the last five years, people being released from Cook County Jail have gotten out later and later at night.

In 2021, ~14% of people got out between 11 pm and 3 am. In 2024, ~40% of all releases took place in those wee hours.

15 US states and territories have formed a new Public Health Alliance, which will counter the absence of federal leadership by tracking outbreaks, issuing guidance, buying vaccines and more.

Members of the new alliance include CA, CO, CT, DE, GU, HI, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, NC, OR, RI, WA.

Yes, you should be surprised and horrified by secret federal police running around our city kidnapping immigrants, crashing cars, launching chemical weapons and shooting and killing people. This is a thing you should be *perpetually* shocked by. We lose when we become numb to it.

The deportation order is based on Vedam’s conviction for murder—a crime he did not actually commit and for which he’s now been wholly exonerated. He entered the US at 9 months old and was a legal permanent resident before his conviction. We are so, so, so far from the light of justice.

Among the supposed "rioters" DHS and Pam Bondi accused of terrorism via twitter, a man with intellectual disabilities who they tried to trick into somehow waiving his Miranda rights.

More great news out of federal court today.

This was a particularly appalling case in which HSI agents took advantage of this man to get him to sign away his rights during his interrogation inside the ICE Broadview facility.

New: U.S. attorneys moved today to dismiss felony assault charges against Paul Ivery, an intellectually disabled man who was arrested at a protest outside the Broadview ICE facility on Sept. 27.

Ivery agreed to waive his Miranda rights while in federal custody.
