I am gonna make a podcast this year if it kills me
Crime Of the Week status report: this weekend I did re-takes of troublesome lines. Once those get edited into place, the majority of the audio work will be done. Music is lined up and I have a logo image I'm content with.

My current hope is to have a trailer out by mid-June, for a July release.
Counterpoint: it'd be real cool if you did
[indistinct screaming]
It's wild how much better your audio will sound when you remember to turn your mic around and speak into the front of it.
I've been a @maximumfun.org member for years, so here's a short list of my own fave Rad Boco Eps (including a couple deep cuts):

TAZ: Charlieverse
Yanni: Live at the Acropolis 2: Live at the Grand Canyon
Judge John Hodgman - Animal Supercut
Shootin' the Bries
Dead Pilot's Society - Weekend Dracula

This ground-breaking book came out in 1974 (back when fantasy by women was still thin on the ground) and so many writers of my generation were hugely influenced by it, as well as by her subsequent work. She was an absolutely master of fantasy literature, and deserves to be more widely known as such.
"She rode home slowly through the snow, the Falcon circling above her head, sometimes soaring to heights where he looked to her like a faint dark star in the day sky, then dropping down to her, lightning swift. She spoke to no one, her eyes black, blind and no one she passed stopped her."
Audio drama peeps should check this one out - I know you love a good gothic mystery!
So here I am on Bluesky, following the #audiodrama crowd and excited to see lots of people here! I'm in mid-run of my own audiodrama - The Greatest Matter - so check it out if you're looking for a full-cast Victorian gothic tale with lots of immersive sound design. thegreatestmatter.com

Hey wait I think I have the perfect response to this.
Pre-show music for Murder On the Orient Express is all songs that talk about trains, which is... a choice.
You're good, YouTube is the one who should be sorry for breaking everything. Jerks.
Currently I can't install the YT app in Kobi, nor play YT links in VLC. It runs ok in Chromium but any vid w/speaking does not line up with video. YT in Firefox is depressingly bad.

I think I can get the thing I'm missing for Kobi from github, but I've never used it, so I have lots of reading to do
My biggest issue seems to be coming from YouTube's unrelenting enshittification - all the easy solutions from years past appear fucked for now.

It does lofi videos in browser fine enough for now. A problem for another day.
Me, a fool, who has not done any programming since Windows 95 was a thing: I'm going to get a Raspberry Pi for my home entertainment, that seems like a much simpler option than what we're currently using
Ah fuck I might need to buy the audio book as well
Woodworking, a novel by Emily St. James (*Karina Longworth voice* that's me), is out in NINE DAYS.

There's an AUDIO version coming. If you're an @ardenpod.bsky.social listener, good news! Saoirse Ní Shúilleabháin (who played Olivia) is one of the narrators!

I got my copy early, and will be finishing it this evening. I can tell you that this will easily be one of the best books I read this year. She is setting an incredibly high bar for everything else I read this year.

I want to talk about cisgendered representation. It was important to me to get the cis experience right, so when cis readers said I got it wrong, I LISTENED. These are some of the cis characters in the book. 🧵

I turned off Google Gemini and other smart features on my Google account a few days ago. Yesterday I noticed my Gmail inbox has switched to a non-default view and won't switch back.

OH HOW ODD

I wonder if my Hotmail account still works...
