A 1-1 draw at Leeds but from these highlights could easily have been 5-5! We were a joy to watch going forwards but just look at that defence😮

On this Spurs day in...1997
The dying embers of the Gerry Francis era sees us lose at home to Derby in the League Cup.
Ginola was starting to show his quality and put us ahead but 2 goals Wanchope knock us out.
Ginola aside things had gone very stale.

It wasn't just Stone - Forest were a real menace - this win extended their run of just 1 defeat in 12 games at WHL. They'd win the next two as well.

Ruel Fox makes his Spurs debut following his £4.25m move from Newcastle...but it's the opposite right-winger Steve Stone who scores the only goal of the game as we lose to Forest. Stone always seemed to play well against us 🙄

On this Spurs day in...1989

3 goals in 14 second half minutes enable us to turnaround a 1-0 deficit at Charlton. It's a Gazza masterclass with a stunning goal and assist for Lineker...and just for @jilllewis33.bsky.social there's a Mitchell Thomas overhead kick too!

Thanks - I agree. It's not just Spurs of course and it was further evidence of how much football changed and embraced medicine and science properly during the 90s. Not quickly enough for Darren and our benefit though.

On this Spurs day in…1996
We beat Villa for the first time in 6 years with Allan Nielsens first Spurs goal.
However the talking point is Mark Bosnich giving a nazi salute to the Paxton which results in police investigation!

On this Spurs Day in 1988...Gazza stars and scores a trademark free kick in this 2-1 League Cup win over Notts County at WHL...

It is one of many amazing Gazza stories included in my book.

We famously ended our 73-year Anfield winless run in 1985...but we only had to wait another 18 months until our next win there (sadly no footage!)
On this Day in 1986 Clive Allen's goal gave us a 1-0 win and Nico Claesen made his debut. Having a Belgian in your side was incredibly exotic in 1986!

Yep you've got those right. He dropped one against Villa in the charity shield - in fact he had a howler in his first home game - a 4-0 loss to West Ham too.
The Barca one was 1982 - it was the game they butchered us and indeed he threw one in.

On this Spurs day...seemingly this has been an International window for many years as our last game on 10 Oct was 1987 with a 2-1 loss @ Norwich.
Can't find any footage but it did prove to be Ray Clemence's final game for us. Aged 40 he succumbed to injury.
Where does he rank among our best keepers?

On this Spurs day in 1990 we beat Hartlepool away in the Littlewoods Cup 2nd leg (having won 5-0 at home). This might be the first time I've seen this footage?

Quite frankly who cares about the international tonight but on this Spurs day in 1991 it was also England v Wales in the shape of Spurs v Swansea in the Rumbelow's Cup 2nd Round 2nd Leg.

Trailing 1-0 from the 1st leg in Wales we turned it around with this 5-1 win:
