Starmer could decide to introduce the PR electoral system as soon as tomorrow (would easily pass through the Commons) and kill the "reform" for good.
He's not gonna do that, obviously.

Instead, he'll keep gambling with the prospect of fascists getting into power for the sake of....what exactly?

"In Nazi Germany people kept living their everyday lives while fascism swallowed their country. Bread was bought, children played, people dated, movies played in theaters. This is how fascism thrives. It does not interrupt normal life, it depends on it."

"History has already shown us how this story unfolds. Fascism is not built only in the camps and cells. It is built in the shrug, the silence, the insistence that life can go on as if nothing has changed"

Plaid Cymru has beaten Reform and Labour in Caerphilly. Apart from other things, Plaid Cymru is also an anti-Brexit party that supports rejoining the EU, the Single Market and the Customs Union.

The extent to which the news media cycle is focusing on Reform rather than the wider strategic goals of Plaid Cymru as the party that actually won is a sign that much of the media and political establishment is going to again end up blindsided by trends that were visible long before
That scene of the Welsh BBC correspondent being the only person interviewing Caerphilly's new Plaid AM while the rest of the media interviewed Reform's loser in the background was far too on the nose.

Hey @reuters.com What a journalistic FAIL. Bottom of the class

You’d never in a million years think that Plaid Cymru won from your headlining - not ReFuk

Who writes this junk?

The remembrance poppy was originally conceived with a broader vision of peace and the prevention of future conflict. Over time, its meaning has become more contested and complex.
Let's expand who we remember, including civilians and those ing ongoing conflicts.

the new Plaid Cymru assembly member for Caerphilly sounds like a proper community-minded character:

"Still a councillor, he also has four voluntary jobs, working in two local schools, a community coffee shop and a foodbank...."

Are there any companies or startups out there that seem likely to grow into something substantial and potentially serve as a substitute for the hostile SM platforms?
My worry is that, with the vast inflow of "dirty money," they'll be able to mobilise a massive ground campaign. GE29 is arguably even bigger than brexit for their fascist backers in the US and Russia. They'll throw everything at it, while the checks and balances we have are so woefully insufficient

Trump has pardoned billionaire crypto mogul and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao — who pled guilty to money laundering charges.

This comes after Zhao helped boost the Trump family’s crypto business.

It's just the latest example of Trump's Pay-to-Pardon Scheme.
