Against Publishing: universonline.nl/nieuws/2025/...

Preprints are read, shared, and cited, yet still dismissed as incomplete until blessed by a publisher. I argue that the true measure of scholarship lies in open exchange, not in the industry’s gatekeeping of what counts as published.

It would b interesting to see what's been done as u say. Policing is to some extent a reflection of society and the societal shifts we r seeing regarding tolerance 2 difference r going to affect the recruits we get.

Much of the training I've seen has been on implicit bias, an industry on itself, based on disreputed measures and with a questionable impact if we follow the evidence (in policing and other fields). But yeah this is an area that deserves much work. 1/2

As far as I know there are no study that empirically test this directly. Not impossible to do but a challenge. What I can say is that reflective practitioners I have interviewed explain their own thinking in these terms.

Surprised u don't know heavier penalties is not what has worked elsewhere. It rarely ever does. This is how NYC did it back in the day: popcenter.asu.edu/sites/g/file...

The most shocking aspect of this latest Met police scandal are the incidents occurring in a custody suite, despite the legal frameworks, leadership structures, and high levels of surveillance and supervision. It sounds more like a pre-PACE
