Since a Minneapolis police officer murdered George Floyd in 2020, the number of people killed by the police each year has continued to rise — and Black Americans are still killed in disproportionate numbers. Our data reporter explains his findings. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/24/u...

RFK Jr is cutting Alzheimer's research to the tune of $3.9 billion.

I can't state this more clearly. The fraction of the American population that is elderly and susceptible to dementia is large and growing fast. This is a critical population health crisis. It needs more attention, not less.

Really disappointing this policy change is being snuck in last second, but there’s time to speak up. These tests are not conclusive and are a slippery slope to reintroduce. Read the thread for a link to give feedback.

Two DOGE workers are now at CISA (DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) I've confirmed. Edward Coristine, the 19-yr-old known as Big Balls, and Kyle Schutt, a 37-yr-old software engineer. Marisa Kabas (bsky.app/profile/mari...) was first to report about Coristine. My piece for Wired

It was an honor to sign the guest book in the home of Anne Frank.

I was here as a younger man and thought about her life as a dark chapter of history.

Today, I can’t help but think of her story as one of caution. Our world is fragile, and it’s incumbent on us not to break it.

MUZZLED FACT—💡Last year, 95% of people hospitalized for COVID-19 weren't up to date on the latest vaccine booster.

📌And people who skipped the flu shot? They were ⬆️2x twice as likely to need medical care from the flu

P.s. Trump WH has pulled & banned these public health ads

Good: CDC’s outbreak publication (MMWR) is now up and running after the first pause in over 70 years

Bad: Todays publication is about fires, and not the missing bird flu or mpox studies we knew were up for publication. Of which have safety implications for veterinarians and people with house cats

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

I’m trying, and I hope other people will try, to hold onto the simple notion that a US president cannot simply declare a federal law that was passed last year and literally upheld this week to be a nullity—even if it’s a not-so-hot law. The Congress is the body that can amend or repeal federal laws.

BREAKING: Justice Alito takes call from Trump, right as Trump's lawyers sought stay to stop Trump's criminal sentencing in NYC.

Alito claims it was to help a former clerk get a job.

Doesn't matter. Federal law requires Alito now be DISQUALIFIED from the Trump stay petition.
