Ok. Enough of having a foot in 'that other place' & here. I'm coming over here before I sink in toxic bog of bleargh (academic term).
My article with Denis Muller on the Walkleys in The Conversation: theconversation.com/the-walkley-...
The Walkley awards were begun by a prominent oil baron. How do we reconcile their history and future...
How can we reconcile our present attitudes and knowledge with historical realities – and how resistant our is media to being seduced by powerful interests?

Here I am back watching ticketek' blue line of doom hoping 4 Swift tix bc Ms 22 says it will be 'The Concert of Her Generation' & dammit the 'kid' never asks 4 a thing & I'd kill 4 her & this is my only legal means of showing her that.
To the half dozen or so teens who, enroute to their school swim carnival, took time to give a thumbs up to a 55-yr-old beet-red faced woman dying ('running') on a treadmill: I seriously love you all & the future of the world is in good hands.
Because nothing says 'Welcome Jen, this is Your Place' better than a bloke with a fruit bowl on his head a garlanded bull. Just another Friday at State Library Victoria.
Gawd! These things give me the ultimate heebie jeebies!
Is there ANYTHING more exciting than getting a 100+ year old document on a family history 4 a book I'm writing translated from German for ME? No, Dear Reader, there is not.
Loving 'Mrs Davis' - utterly mad & weirdly compelling. Thanks 4 the headsup @andersf.bsky.social
Oh. Ok. PRE game entertainment? Seems my attention & care factor abt footy is what is pathetic 🙄Dang.
Loved Darcy's victory speech - humble & filled with joy.
Darcy: To the 19th Man, the Collingwood Army!
'It was fun to play. Must've been fun to watch but it was fun to play' - Collingwood skipper Darcy Moore.
Did we just miss KISS at Grand Final? Bloody pathetic Channel 7!
Dearest 19 followers. I don't deserve u. My 3 Adult Spawn have exposed me as a fraud. They never called me Dexter of plant world. I was giddy with tulip glee. & crowned myself. I'm a monster & regret nothing. Tulips!!
So NOW the Muse alights upon me? No sleep, lectures to write, conference paper to plan and NOW I get 'inspired'? Of course I do. My Muse is Zsa Zsa & I'm a slave to her charms. And 85% dark chocolate.

There's a lot of nostalgia for the 2000s but I wouldn't want to go back to a time when death cabs were only for cuties.
My book is about Eva Sommer who won Australia's first national prize for journalism, a Walkley, in 1956. Which is, of course, why I'm writing about an Austrian brass factory in 1890. I'm calling it contextapation & the struggle, Dear Reader, is real.
Today I had High Tea at Parliament House AND a tour of the Library. Which had rolling ladders, two spiral staircases & a stone lion called Clarence. That's what I call Thursday!
Saw Ed Keupper at The National last nite - brilliant but close 2nd was old musos/roadies (?)behind me recounting past gigs & capers. Lots of puchups over women - ah the 80s pub scene!
Behold the Tulip of Victory! Planted on Mother's Day by me & my full-grown Trinity of Offspring. All the more fab as the kids call me the Dexter of the plant world. But not today. Today belongs to me.
