How would they afford to do this, however? Increase the price of books, of course. In writing this, and previous skeets, I assumed WotC was charging $50 for their books. They were, now it's $60. If people will pay that for 5.5E, why can't the rest of the industry raise their prices as well?

The funniest MtG take is that "wotc has secretly been tricking us with gradual changes in art style so we accept these dumb sets like aetherdrift or thunder junction!" like a well coordinated change in art style is somehow bad? And as if MtG has not had major artistic changes since its inception???

I can understand feeling cynical, seeing it commissioned by WotC, or by any corporation.
I hope my choice to just embrace the joy within the art itself isn't causing any dissonance. 💜

Thank you.
Thing is the Chuds and Boomers are kind of right (sadly). Dnd is a system where yes certain races are just evil and that's an issue.
I don't care if WoTC makes orc art that shows that no they aren't all evil. When the main role they still play in the game is to be killed by players

Pioneer may be a dead format on the official wotc circuits, but Pioneer in the Clouds 6 today in Neumünster was a fun 61 player event.
I even made top 4 with this beauty:

(Might post a pic later but am on the train now.) #mtg #pioneer

Which begs the question: should WotC dominate the market like it does?
Probably not.
But short of some kind of anti-trust intervention, that means growing the TTRPG economy. Which means getting more people to play TTRPGs.
And whose job is that?
Idk. All of ours? Marginally?

"In the spirit of the feedback we have recieved about the recent bans, we realize we acted hastily. Therefore, we are unbanning Nadu. Also WOTC is your Commander Master now so talk to them. Love you bai!"

Yeah, I didn't think I would have to explain that no, I was not serious in suggesting the RC should have unbanned Nadu out of spite for how they were abused by Magic Grognards...
But it would have been a hilarious fuck you right before handing it to WOTC.

Hasbro and WotC.
If there was one thing you could add, change or remove from DnD.. what would it be?
I would take silvery barbs and stick in in every class.. muahahah

I pray this is the last month of Titan being the best deck. WOTC could do something extremely funny on the 10th.

Thanks for reply! Unfortunately it seems wotc just miscredited and printed thousands of boxes to you. Not your fault ofc just sad to see they never made a statement about it. Maybe they did in Japanese news only? Either way sorry to involve you. But weird it got creditet to you. Ty for your work

I think it spawned out of wotc fumbling the bag with Record of Lodoss War. They initially used dnd, but (idk if the reason is specified) the corp releasing the play by post magazine decided to roll their own system to release with the setting and it ended up dominant because of that.

Lastly, WotC tries to push DnD as the everything RPG, like a second coming of GURPS and a lifestyle brand. Ignoring WHY people play the game (no matter how they play it)

I do believe it is kinda cool that a large community of queer players has grown around DnD and you see less and less of the Worst Kind of Players™ because of it. But I hate that it somewhat whitewashes WotC reputation (bunch of assholes IMO).

I went back to 2e some years ago but yeah, 5e has an identity crisis because it is one game as written, an entirely different game for the majority of players online and somehow WotC believes that it is yet another different game than the previous two

For sure, but sometime in the future when WotC is looking for more ways to make money with lower costs, HASBRO could go for it.
Doesn't hurt trying to get some people into the idea :D
I'm dreaming of Premodern nationals with a draft portion of ONS block

Watched 15 seconds of a video on D&D and WOTC and saw it was blaming inclusive queer content as the reason WOTC is failing. 🙄
It's funny how evil corporate money grabbing isn't clicking as the real problem. Like it is for almost any corporate product you deal with?

WOTC please design a set so can actually reprint this stuff like you claimed and not just in guest artist slots. There's more than enough space in standard for mid level older commander cards.
W40K released 3+ years ago and lack of reprints has led to the entire set having absurdly high prices
Ghyrson $35 Flamer $25 and on
WOTC has said multiple times they can reprint any UB card, so please show that you can! Reprint a tyranid! It's depressing how inaccessible these cards are getting

I also don't see this as a bad thing personally ~ I think more than anything WotC is following the writing on the wall, and the modern D&D has become its own delightfully odd animal

Been saying this for years; WotC puts out some great socks and paraphernalia ~
The "cozycore" identity WotC's been pushing for D&D lately may be toothless and completely disconnected from the game's rules, but it's a reflection of how a lot of D&D "lifestylers" interact with the brand. This isn't a new creative direction, it's a business decision.

YUP!
Prime example is a certain trust fund baby who claimed to "win" the big AI scandal, yet said nothing when WotC went back on their word. An heiress running a ridiculously long subathon, never offering a cent of that fortune to help her "friends."
People like that are only in it for the money.
