#worbla
Separate post for 2016 cosplay 'cause dang that was a good year! I made Worbla armor for the first time, got to be an official Sailor Neptune and an official Dragon Quest Builders cosplayer, and got together a full NES/Famicom Dragon Quest III group for DQ's 30th! This is just a small portion!!

using 2mm foam from the foamory + tsuya's cloud finger armor pattern off etsy!

fingertips will be using the tutorial and i'll be using worbla.

Yea I think so but I think worbla would be more messing than anything else

isn't worbla expensive too? it used to be considered cosplay gold back in the day😅 i wish i could send you the piles of eva i still have from the old days, I don't have anything I can do with it atm

Yea I am leaning towards eva foam or paper/glue. I was reading about Worbla too but I don't want to mess with new materials too much and I want something lighter.

Thank you

They are done! And they are comfy! 🥰 I need to make te sabatons next (but I'll probably make them out of foam or worbla than plate metal which was my original idea) 🫣

okay glove 1 is done! gonna fix up some stitching issues but most of them are gonna be covered with finger armor. i still need to decide if i want to use foam, worbla. or 3d printing.

Thank you! Yeah it's mostly foam, a bit of worbla, and it's build on a base of an old foam hylian shield from zelda I had.

This was a big one for me. I spent most of 2021 working on my Project Ebon Blade cosplay for Thrall. Programing lights, foam work, using worbla for the first time.

For the missing components on Takiko’s Shinzaho, I used worbla + apoxie sculpt. To add some extra detail, I stamped with a filigree clasp.

"To Worble" is the verb form of Worbla

The front part of the Death Knight cuirass is pretty much done. Covered the worbla sheet backing with liquid latex before painting for a skin-like texture. Gonna add a bit more around the tubes going into the skin to make them look embedded in the flesh.

Finally it's her weapon, Mantenbō! Made out of pvc pipes (which I sanded 1st)! They're detachable for space & travel. Did the old bottle cap trick. Reinforced with worbla.

One upside?

Wood glue as primer has kept the finish surprisingly intact on those breaks so once glued together if chunks of worbla aren't missing there is only the look of a hairline crack. Thanks Gorilla Wood Glue.

It isn't just thin fin like sandwich applications which are brittle. The Cardcaptor Sakura staff head's circle, wings and connection to the wooden dowel are SOLID worbla, made from worbla scraps. It has broken in some thick worbla only places.

I wish I could text me of like 10-15 years ago and tell her "no you're right to not use worbla for everything because it suffers the same fate as pleather and goes brittle/shatters once it hits the 10-15 year mark"

Currently trying e6000-ing the pieces for Sky High's fin back together.

dude making horse ears from trashed-crimped fiber and worbla is so much Touch The Bad Texture that I feel like I’m going to vomit

SAME! Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to run 800 dye tests to make good fake fur ears so I’m currently making some out of Worbla and wig hair and I’m. Having a time. Oh god save me lmao

Realized that I forgot to post! Made Ovid's gem backing out of eva foam covered in worbla + worbla scraps for details. (Currently priming). Made the gem out of worbla crystal art & painted with nail polish!

I started this build in November to take advantage of the cooler, drier winter months here in Florida. The armor is EVA foam and the helmet, sword, gauntlets, and small detail accessories are 3D printed. I also used Worbla as needed as a foam stabilizer.

I really want to do a Kiroranke doll but how the hell do I even do his hair, cuz clay won't work it would be way too fragile, maybe I could try using worbla?
But there is another problem: the only body/head of his skin color is sold out everywhere so I would need to dye a whole body for him too 😭

The skull accessory are scraps of worbla fused together. Also made the eyes & mouth details out of them. Primed, painted & varnished!
