i switched to mint a month ago and this has been the vibe. sometimes i feel like i went from Win11 to Win7 in a good way, sometimes its like holy fuck why is this so much harder for no reason. in latter situations a nap usually helps me find the easier solution, since there usually is one

took a day off to get some work done,tracked down some old pen drivers it seemed not to like and now i got a whole bunch of other error text including mention of an ADAM client and some new codes like 0x80070002, 0x80070490 and my new favorite 0x800401F0 (why? why not, it references win7)

Can't complain about Mint. You picked probably the best distro if you're familiar/comfortable with Win7/10.
Been daily driving it since early 2023 and I don't think I can ever go back.

Ok I regret to inform that if you happen to have a 2011 Dell laptop on Win7 as your only computer it cannot play the opening cutscene even at 480p.

No OS is without flaws, including the various flavors of Linux.
However, i started weening myself off Windows when i retired approx 5 years ago, dual booting Mint 17 and Win7. When i could no longer update browser for Win7 i switched to Mint entirely haven't looked back since. Current: Mint 22.1.

The cool thing about having a Win7 laptop is its too old for them to recognize 😊

I'm trying to create new digital photo-montages. My main computer is still broken (it needs a technician, and I can't afford it) and with my fifteen-year-old Win7 PC, what I can do is limited: slower times, no complex processing, no animations longer than 30 seconds...

I prefer Ubuntu myself. It’s like a love letter to win7 and I can run almost all games and davinci resolve off of it with minimal terminal work.
