Made a collapsible table to take to Viking reenactment events. Red oak with linseed oil finish. The best piece of red oak I had. The only suitable one, actually. Hence, the size and shape.

Doing some rune carving at an event on Thursday evening. Notice the Viking-era historical correct cordless rotary tool. 😉

I am sinfully proud of this horn mug that I made on a lark yesterday. Burned out an old rotary tool cutting the handle. It turned out so much better than I expected.

It’s getting darker and darker, time to make a reflective tablet woven ribbon (with some leftover wool yarn dyed with cochineal and woad).

Playing with some leftover bits of horn. I made some quick amulets of Odin's ravens, Huginn & Muninn.

New tablet woven ribbon in the making. This will not be for sale, but I might make more with these colors. I work with a thin, combis, wool yarn that I’ve dyed with woad, weld, walnut shells and madder.

Made a quick set of Elder Futhark runes for my daughter to show examples of rune casting. From a maple branch trimmed from a tree in the backyard last year. Finished with boiled linseed oil. I tried painting the runes, but Sharpie worked so much better. 😉

Built this box to hold my rune writing supplies. Made from spare 2x4 lumber: pine and Douglas fir. Finished with boiled linseed oil. I'll probably carve something into the top later.

Carved runes and patterns into a Viking drinking horn this morning. Getting ready for a reenactment next weekend.

I had a useless cracked paver and decided to try an experiment carving a Norse runestone. This has the name Odin in Viking runes on one side, and the name Wodnaz on the other in earlier Elder Futhark runes. Wodnaz was Odin's name when those runes were in use.

Made this replica of a set of Jorvik pan pipes out of a piece of hickory, finished with linseed oil.

Naalbinding a lap blanket...keeps my hands busy and uses up my insane stash of DDR wool. #vikingcrafts #textiles #Naalbinden

When people ask me what do I do I tell them I am a maker. I make things. All kinds of things, because my brain likes to to learn new stuff and there are so many cool things in the universe to learn. This is #Naalbinden. Needle binding, the art of "knitting" with a single needle. #SCA #VikingCrafts
