nah, had it before for a while, it’s ok but I want something more like Ubuntu or VanillaOS I think

Right, and the "it won't fucken break on updates" resistance comes from the A/B partitioning scheme

it's more like...VanillaOS, SteamOS, and to some extent Android (kind of)

Here's what I'm thinking, for the next row + column of #linux distro logos on my #wplace distro logo mural:

Finally got VanillaOS to install. The installer is a mess performance-wise, I can't figure out why (was using 8GB of Ram). Once the Distro is installed, it's ... just Debian running GNOME and Mesa.

"Windows 10 support is ending soon!"
Aww.. Thanks for the warning, Microsoft! I'll switch ASAP!
..What? You thought I was going to upgrade to Windows 11? Are you out of your fucking mind!? No! I'm not upgrading to Windows 11! I'm upgrading to Linux or I'll die trying!

the only usable way I've seen is VanillaOS' vso system but that kind of defeats the purpose

The #vanillaos experience (so far)

* Games run better out of the box than they did on Arch with the correct drivers installed manually (why)
* It's #debian based, so that's a plus imo (I'm a sucker for debian based distros)
* The preinstalled #gnome desktop environment is very clean and […]

I'm am REALLY glad I've gotten swapped over to Linux. Though I'm finding Ubuntu just a bit too clunky. I might give VanillaOS a shot, soon.

Was very disappointed with BunsenLabs Boron, VanillaOS, and Ubuntu Budgie.
Mildly disappointed by OpenSUSE Tumbleweed.

Solus Budgie was absolutely painless install.

Does require a beefier machine, like VanillaOS needed, BUT compared to Ubuntu Budgie, it's beautiful and smooth to use.

There are also Linux distros that have a radically different approach. Imutable and Atomic distros.

In short, all the base image upgrades at once.

The previous image is kept, so reverting is possible

On top containerized apps

Examples: SteamOS, Fedora Silverblue, VanillaOS, MicroOS and more

distroshelf looks like a really cool alternative to the current vanillaos/apx setup I have going on right now

Next OS on laptop002. Arch+Niri or VanillaOS?

I'm using EndeavourOS as my main since September last year.

Did a lot of distro hopping last year, Mint, Manjaro, Bazzite, Fedora, vanillaOS but the arch based Endeavour just felt like home after the steam deck.

Plus the Endeavour community is the friendliest bunch.

Just a friendly suggestion, if your new to Linux, I'd begin with either Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Zorin OS, Fedora or VanillaOS. BUT this up to you either way! :3
