Right, and the "it won't fucken break on updates" resistance comes from the A/B partitioning scheme

Finally got VanillaOS to install. The installer is a mess performance-wise, I can't figure out why (was using 8GB of Ram). Once the Distro is installed, it's ... just Debian running GNOME and Mesa.

the only usable way I've seen is VanillaOS' vso system but that kind of defeats the purpose

* Games run better out of the box than they did on Arch with the correct drivers installed manually (why)

I'm am REALLY glad I've gotten swapped over to Linux. Though I'm finding Ubuntu just a bit too clunky. I might give VanillaOS a shot, soon.

Was very disappointed with BunsenLabs Boron, VanillaOS, and Ubuntu Budgie.
Mildly disappointed by OpenSUSE Tumbleweed.

Solus Budgie was absolutely painless install.
Does require a beefier machine, like VanillaOS needed, BUT compared to Ubuntu Budgie, it's beautiful and smooth to use.

I'm using EndeavourOS as my main since September last year.
Did a lot of distro hopping last year, Mint, Manjaro, Bazzite, Fedora, vanillaOS but the arch based Endeavour just felt like home after the steam deck.
Plus the Endeavour community is the friendliest bunch.

Just a friendly suggestion, if your new to Linux, I'd begin with either Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Zorin OS, Fedora or VanillaOS. BUT this up to you either way! :3
