We have a new preprint for you. Naked mole rats are very long-lived rodents and have increased translational fidelity.

Interestingly, 28S ribosomal RNA is split. Here we investigated the structure of the ribosome by single particle cryo-EM. Take a look.

Cryo-EM structure of the naked mole-rat ribosome reveals a stabilized split 28S rRNA
The naked mole-rat (Heterocephalus glaber) is a long-lived mammal with remarkable resistance to cancer and hypoxia, suggesting the evolution of robust proteostasis networks. The ribosome, the central ...

Absolutely, a beautiful demonstration of an incredible effect.

(It also of course suggests a very easy translational intervention to get better responses - simply treat your patients in the future when the drug regimes are better!)

Post-translational Tuning of Human Cortical Progenitor Neuronal Output
The striking expansion of the human neocortex is driven by the ability of radial glial cells (RGCs) to prolong neurogenesis without exhausting their progenitor pool, thereby producing more neurons, pa...

This experience was far from an isolated incident

As the translational center (NCATS) moved forward, Collins spoke of approaching drug development "the way an engineer would" for the first time.

Even my eyes rolled so hard that it hurt.

I believe @dereklowe.bsky.social had a bit to say about this
