Welp, shocking as it is, there's 2 bettles (one extinct, one extant) also called "T. rex", so a "Torvosaurus rex" might not be that strange in comparison

Fourth doodle dump for January.

Was a little tedious to complete it, but I did what I could.

Either way, I'd be completely cool with either going with Edmarka as a valid genus or ending up with Torvosaurus rex as a distinct species in the genus, the latter of which would be hilarious to me, NGL

It also means that it might potentially lead to having a realistic alternative to the "Rex vs Giga" scenario presented in JWD's prologue

This means, if we end up getting "Torvosaurus rex", then it'd be completely fair to say that Disney's Fantasia was "accurate" in having a "T. rex vs Stegosaurus" battle, except with a giant megalosaur instead of a tyrannosaur

So, been hearing that there's a possibility that Edmarka rex might be a valid animal from Torvosaurus tanneri

However, if it turns out it's still in the Torvosaurus genus, but diagnostic as distinct from T. tanneri...?

...The funniest shit would happen 🤭

Portrait of Torvosaurus tanneri, big megalosaurid theropod from Morrison formation. It was massive predator which coexisted with array of other theropods, including smaller megalosauroid Marshosaurus. Done as experiment with style.

First art of 2026, showcasing some #MorrisonFormation theropods as will be seen in my developing "Kasifer: Sultan of the Red Desert" story, particularly natives of 'Crimson Canyon' where the title protagonist resides

These would have most likely been for display purposes, so they could have been potentially brightly colored, which is pretty cool to think about.

Ceratosaurus lived with other large predators like Torvosaurus and Allosaurus.

Niche partitioning keeping them from fighting over resources.

We don’t have the nasal bones for megalosaurus (or any of its nearest relatives, like torvosaurus etc)
But a lot of closely related groups (spinosaurs, ceratosaurs) almost all have some kind of crest. So although we can’t know for sure, the balance of probability suggests they probably did.
