Tidyverse syntax kinda fucked up this joke huh

For the ones who whisper sweet nothings like “tidyverse,” “ggplot,” and “logistic regression.”

Six weeks at Yale.
Big data. Bigger impact.

Applications for the Big Data Summer Immersion at Yale are open → BDSY.org

All undergrads are eligible to apply.

I just completed "Playground" - Day 8 - Advent of Code 2025 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2025/day/8

Apparently R has no problem creating a distance matrix with a million elements; it was essentially instantaneous (0.005s user).

Also, I seem to have difficulty understanding that 999 is not 1000.

It's unfair I know, but I learnt classic R and every single mention of the tidyverse brings that scene from Alien to mind.

If you replicate the authors' analysis using post code fixed effects, you get a highly (substantively and statistically) significant effect.

Rent control makes you +0.64 SDs less NIMBY.

If you use #rstats regularly to wrangle data, here are two good things to know about subsetting with dplyr::filter and an aspect of how tibbles work that can cause hiccups in your data flow if you're not careful

Unexpected behaviour from tidyverse tibbles that can cause big problems
Tidyverse is a set of R-packages that work on the same principles and work well with each other, and they have revolutionised the R-universe. Besides creating a whole lot of handy functions (my...

I’m teaching a course on data wrangling with R & the tidyverse for @stathorizons.bsky.social in January. Filled to the brim with ways to do the stuff you have to do before you can run any of your spiffy models and that often breezily gets glossed over even though it’ll take up 90% of your time.

Join us to talk all things R, Python, Positron, Air, tidyverse, and cosmere!
How lucky am I that these 2 agreed to join me not just at DS Lab to share #Positron settings, but now TODAY @ the Hangout to share about their dev jobs!

Let's be real, we're all Brandon Sanderson #Cosmere nerds, too, that's gonna come up 😂

Join us @ 12PM ET! pos.it/dsh

No that rules

And definitely switch back and forth between base R and tidyverse a lot for no reason

Family/Christmas/Birthday/Work means this may be the last attempt at #TidyTuesday this year. First full year doing it and enjoyed. Not sure if I got better though!

Ah, I see! The closest I can get is two separate stat_* layers from ggdist. I can't figure out how to force this into a stat_lineribbon_and_pointinterval or whatever :(

I know some people fret about ‘different versions of R’ developing, but I think it's great that people with different syntax preferences have options. Base R still works. Data.table exists and is awesome. The tidyverse is a wonderful ecosystem. Syntax likes/dislikes are personal!
