I find it remarkable that you associate thyme with gravy! That is not how my brain would respond.

We picked up a cold rotisserie chicken from the grocery store, celery & carrots.

Add salt, pepper, thyme & an onion from the pantry.

End result? 5.5 meals worth of chicken soup.

made a tomato soup tonight from some chicken backs

I recommend adding a halved lemon to the broth rendering pressure cooker
with marjoram, 4 large bay leaves, 2 halved garlic 🧄 heads, halved onion, halved red shallot, & some lemon thyme

These recipes always need more herbs & better broth
Creamless Creamy Tomato Soup | America's Test Kitchen
Plain tomato soup can be thin and sharp. Adding cream—the usual stodgy solution—merely dulls it. We wanted to tame the tartness without losing flavor.

For most of us, there is only the unattended
Moment, the moment in and out of time,
The distraction fit, lost in a shaft of sunlight,
The wild thyme unseen, or the winter lightning
Or the waterfall, or music heard so deeply
That it is not heard at all, but you are the music
While the music lasts.
Which lines of poetry live rent-free in your head?

A good sage will tell you to season your home. A good thyme will tell you to season your life.

watching Wild Mountain Thyme with the kids to get them ready for our trip to Ireland. if that seems like an unbalanced view we're also watching The Devil's Own for contrast

Thyme is meant to help with coughing
December 6, 2025 at 4:57 PM
Now, I don't want to jinx things, but *maybe* the meds are helping as I was able to go out for a little bit this morning and then I've also managed to make a start on the chestnut stuffing for Christmas this afternoon and haven't crashed *yet*, but keep fingers crossed over next few days, yeah?

I needed to use up those miso butter onions from Thanksgiving. Voila, Shakshouka in a pinch. Some of the leftover onions in a crock, canned diced tomatoes, a couple of eggs then a crank of salt and pinch of dried thyme. Bake for 10 minutes, then turn to low broil and cook for about 3-4 minutes.

Well, that bit of this weekend’s mealprep is done. Made a honey-mustard-sage-garlic butter with some other herbs and spices for the bird. The brine had lemon, thyme, parsley and a splash of balsamic vinegar (which I love to use for roast chicken).

I thought it tasted good, but the person who asked me to remake it said I put too much thyme.
