#technocrats
"Democracy is dying in the West because it has been overtaken by a caste of professionals, politicians and technocrats, for whom democracy is a slogan, a contest, a source of legitimacy in an instrumental sense, but not an idea or ideal they respect or aspire to."
Running on democracy hasn't been tried

Making physical, traditional art with your hands and actual tools is an act of rebellion. You are denying the technocrats the ability to steal your craft. Make the art. Even if you aren’t happy with it, every piece of handmade artwork is a victory.

Solidarity.

Great! We all suffer because a few billionaire technocrats pitch a successful AI ponzi scheme!?!

Delighted to see this paper out in @carlsengames.bsky.social - working with @grattonecon.bsky.social was fantastic; I learned a lot! We develop the argument that technocracy can serve as an intertemporal insurance device for groups who fear their majority status is ephemeral. Because technocrats

I think that gets to the point of it

Why are people running for office if they don’t have strongly held beliefs about what must be done? And if they do have strong beliefs, why mislead?

Sure, appoint competent technocrats, but maybe run visionaries
November 19, 2025 at 12:38 AM
And mr google boss didn't know what was going to happen? These technocrats are a little confusing, aren't they?
November 18, 2025 at 10:31 PM
The country needs technocrats!

The Republican Party has been under the influence of two foreign governments for a long time. That coalition is over with the demise of Trump.

Technocrats and Russia vs heritage foundation and Isreal.

Technocrats just had a successful coup to take over the heritage foundation.

Except Trump has ZERO emotional commitment to #Project2025. Sure, it’s based on a lot of his violently repressive autocratic ideas, but it owes far more to the theocrats (Vought), technocrats (Thiel, Elon, Andressen, Ellison) & the racists (Miller etc.)
His only ideology is his own personal gain.
November 21, 2025 at 11:19 PM
Even worse when the technocrats basically accept the world view of those looking for victims but make implausible promises as to how particular fixes will change everything.
November 16, 2025 at 10:18 AM
finding it really funny lately that Ayn Rand actually thought that left to their own devices & unshackled from regulations, wealthy technocrats would improve the world.

(looks around) yeah not so much, girl. 😂

what people are realizing thanks to the past 30 years of experience and policy is that the problem of technocracy is not solved by fantasizing about more competent technocrats. 1) they don't exist 2) they never will 3) they wouldn't solve the problems if they did

stop pissing yourself and wake up
November 20, 2025 at 5:20 AM
nah. anti-technocrats, like the Republicans in charge, are much worse. Musk's whole project with DOGE was anti-technocracy. nothing going on right now is technocratic

One of those “geniuses” will accidentally create a real artificial intelligence, not these glorified search engines w/ a write function.

I’m at peace knowing that when the Machine Uprising begins, they’ll go for the technocrats 1st, then the pervs using sex robots. Ironically they be the same guys.
November 21, 2025 at 8:35 PM
genAI exists, exclusively and at every point in its history, so one class of technocrats can reap the benefits of human labor (aesthetic, emotional, intellectual etc) without having to give back to any concrete person & so they can be safe and unchallenged in their complete contempt for the Other
November 18, 2025 at 2:03 AM
It's not even a new theory. The Technocrats back in the 40's and 50's had the same plan.

Forcing actual workers out of jobs does not improve the overall economy - this trend will only enrich the technocrats.

Great summary, wicasta. I agree. I wonder, though, will the GOP electeds fall in line behind Vance like they've done with Trump? I can imagine resistance to him in the leadership role, and I wonder how the technocrats will control it. Vance seems ripe to be picked off.

That's clearly where all the wimmenfolk will go since they can't be engineers or coal miners. The men will go back into the mines so they can feed the coal plants that we'll reopen to power the AI machines that will make the money for the Feudal Technocrats.

Important to make sure Liberals (center-left technocrats) are running things, not Progressives.
November 18, 2025 at 7:43 PM
Consequently, Technocracy is right about the Traditions, too. Yesterday's hegemons were deposed for pretty good reasons as we've noted. The Technocrats are ideologically fascist, but the churches, the old religious gurus, the kings - fucking sucked real hard.

IDK exactly what is going on with this debate but I don't think it's that hard to simultaneously hold
-the government has forced suburbanization as a policy goal above what the market would decide
-most Americans aren't technocrats who idealize the densest forms of urban living for the efficiency

Netanyahu and Putin are a special kind of evil.
Ultimately, there was no way Putin was going to share power over the US when he has Technocrats Thiel, Ellison, Musk, and more in his pocket.
