This is NOT how we ate popsicles, when I was growing up. We each ate our own. (I haven't eaten any since—too sweet.) The only things we shared, on the confectionery steps, were trading cards. (I won't tell you WHICH we traded—it would date me, terribly!) By the hazy glow of streetlamps, sometimes.

As the cold sets in, the neon lights outside my window are still covered in the faint fog of Jinling. Gathering my thoughts, I prepare to depart.

They mocked me for favouring expedience over principle; only I knew that what I was guarding was never the wealth and splendor - it was a tomorrow where hundreds of thousands of people could hold their heads up high.

Come to think of it, in the depths of every single night when I walked the streets alone, the streetlamps elongated the shadows, making it seem like I had company along the way, just a little behind me.
