Dregg was a paladin whose oath (devotion iirc?) had not been active at the start of the season, so he didn't have access to any paladin features... until he repledged his oath to the crew of the Snallygaster... which fucking ruled. He's about to beat the shit out of his loser brother btw #dicefunk

Some of these #dicefunk Markov posts are gonna be a smattering of potentially related sketches, often not, but that's ok. The characters are all members of a ragtag adventuring crew for the spaceship Snallygaster, and they're very silly billy about it

Also learned this wild story from the Boyton book: In 1976, The Washington Post literally sent a reporter on an apparently very expensive Snallygaster (inexplicably rebranded as a kind of Bigfoot?) hunt with a whole team of assistants.
Chapter 4: the Great Snallygaster Hunt The Washington Post, perhaps emboldened by their recent exposé and Richard Nixon's subsequent resignation, decided to take on Maryland's most famous legend in the fall of 1976. Scaff writer Gordon Chaplin's report, titled "The Grand Bicentennial Washington Post/Potomac Expedition to Darkest Maryland in Search of the Monstrous Snallygaster," was a colorful chronicle of his attempts to capture the dreaded beast in the White Marsh area of Anne Arundel County. Published in the Sunday edition of the Post on October 10, Chaplin's article was a delightfully irreverent piece of gonzo journalism. Taking a page from George May, Chaplin notes the Dwayyo's influence on the Snallygaster's appearance over the previous 11 years: It is described both in Webster's Third International Dictionary and the 1935 Federal Writer's Project Guide as part reptile, part bird, but those who claim to have seen it recently say it more closely resembles the Sasquatch or Bigfoot of the Northwestern rainforests. Like the Bigfoot, the Snallygaster is said to be ape-like, much bigger than a man, and covered with shaggy hair. 43

Here in my thick of the woods we have the Snallygaster, a dragon-esque cryptid with three eyes, razor-sharp teeth and a shrieking call. The old German farmers claimed it snatched away their livestock from time to time. I'm surprised it has so little of a presence in pop culture.

Snallygaster 2025 was an excellent time — and a vastly better-than-usual use of that stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue. I mostly made myself a fresh-hop festival-within-a-festival (thanks to @dcbeer.com's helpful list), with various dark and wild and dead-straight-lager things filling in the gaps.
