- Some of the pieces missing from the open-source distribution help with scaling (the ScyllaDB backend comes to mind), so... I'm not sure how well the open-source version of the AppView scales up? Again, people have run it, so it works, but it may not work with bluesky-level traffic.

The next big plans are to move to fan-out-on-write for most workloads and shift to ScyllaDB. What surprised me is # of users has pretty weak correlation to load on services cause days like today cause massive spikes in load even when only a few thousand extra users join. I've got a lot to learn.

Yeah, as long as you can use Postgres, it makes sense to.

But it's not great at handling a large numbers of connections, currency, and replication. MySQL is actually much better here.

And ScyllaDB is on another level in terms of scaling with its shard-per-core architecture, which is very powerful.

lol!

Your post is actually stored (canonically) in your own individual SQLite database as of this week!

We're in the process of moving our v1 Postgres-based backend to our v2 ScyllaDB-based backend.
