I’m seeing this trend of novels being written almost like screenplays. Understand Reese Witherspoon buying your book rights is a ticket out of precarity but I miss good world building in…. words.

I'm reading a book on writing screenplays and it's really emphasising the need to start with action if you want to sell it in the 2020s, and while I don't disagree with that, boy it makes me a bit 'hrrmm' when a major driving force of that convention is streaming and lack of audience attention

I’m in a unique position, using a complete script as the outline for a book. You might say that’s pretty structured. But I’ve done this before, written screenplays first. A lot of my own work was first written as a screenplay. I don’t think that’s common. #WeeknightWriters
Q3: Are you using a structured outline method for your #FirstDraftFall story? If your pantsing, do you have a general sense of direction of where your story will be going? #WeeknightWriters

I'm closest to a Neutral Plotter, although that applies more to longer works (novels, plays, screenplays). If it's a short story, I write pretty quickly and can write the story in the time it would take me to outline it, so I'm a Lawful Pantser.
Q1: Since we're talking about plot, we figured it would be fun to see how you plot! Based on this nifty chart, what is your plotting/writing style alignment? #WeeknightWriters

So many movies. So many people writing screenplays. How do you stand out from the pack? Invest in yourself. Hire a PR agent is one way.

Alas, the Rory Awards for the most gratuitous use of the word “fuck”, is only for serious screenplays. There’s no Journalism Award.

Movie #145: After the Hunt
I'm starting to think that Luca Guadagnino is a bad director. If nothing else, the screenplays he picks up are super messy. This film is a character study about characters that we never learn that much about. What we do learn about them makes them kinda unlikable.

Great time for me to get into writing screenplays! 🫠
David and Larry Ellisons’ sloptastic vision for Hollywood is coming into focus:
“Paramount has reportedly signed a $200M+ multiyear deal for Higgsfield AI to use mass-use Popcorn AI model that ingests dailies and script notes, then outputs regional cuts: new leads, alternate jokes, revised endings”

Any request of this nature is inherently a request for partnership. Any allowance of this nature implies the r/screenwriting's endorsement. Any "informational posting" about a paid service that asks for $50-$500 "refundable" for a pitch session with a producer is a massive violation of our rules.

Of course some great people have! Great humans, but I mean someone who's in the industry or could help get things moving. Screenplays are just plans for a movie, not the final product.

Hopefully I can get some of my screenplays produced soon: they are weird and stuffed to the brim with queer rep. I have been in contact with a producer recently, and things are going well on that front! 😊🎥

I moved to Nashville in the early 2000s to write screenplays. My time their inspired me to write a novel that takes place in the city.
I think it’s pretty cool to live in a city so many people want to visit, and that so many people want to move to. She’s a beaut tonight
