I think Sapkowski would yell at me personally
I asked this before over at The Old Place and the answers delighted me. So again:

Who is an artist you admire who you suspect would not like you if they met you personally?

I think Peter Dinklage is fantastic. I would absolutely get on his last nerve. He'd be looking for the door while we spoke.

To je všechno.

#TheWitcher author Andrzej Sapkowski says he now has an 'excellent' deal with CD Projekt Red for 'The Witcher' games

"Let's hope it stays that way"

He adds it’s rare for the devs to ask him for advice about the franchise anymore

The only creator I *really* admire that I know for a fact wouldn't run out of the room because I'm in it is Andrzej Sapkowski. I had a really pleasant evening with him a few years back and I'm sure we'd get along great again.

He's the only thing standing between college students and certain death. Unfortunately, teen monster hunter Daniel is responsible for more civilian deaths than monster kills, and unless he can find the key to a power he doesn't believe in, his new friends will pay the price...

This Reddit AMA interview with Witcher creator Andrzej Sapkowski is very funny, because you have a ton of people who want to ask (not necessarily bad!) fandom-brained questions running directly into the buzzsaw of a man who refuses to answer that kind of thing

I know we all scoffed when Moorcock tried to sue Andrzej Sapkowski for Geralt's similarities to Elric, but honestly?

If MULTIPLE famous IPs profited from my work while my work languished forgotten by the mainstream, I would be mad too
God damn it, @loosf.bsky.social gave me a new brainworm by showing me this image and telling me that Guts from Berserk is an Elric, even though Griffith got the looks.

I am forever going to be looking for the Eternal Champion in every story I see from now on

Shadow is totally an Elric fursona, too

Most modern fantasy writers would answer this question, whether or not they'd given it much thought. Sapkowski flatly will not and resents you asking him about it

Host asking Sapkowski how the fandom's love has influenced him as a writer.

'A Thai prophet said, “Only very stupid writer doesn’t listen to his fans, but extremely stupid writer does what the fans want.” I try to find the golden way: I listen to the fans, and then absolutely do not pay attention.’

November 2, 2025 at 11:39 AM
It's a completely reasonable question if you believe that it's the job of the author to answer that sort of thing, and Sapkowski simply does not

Andrzej Sapkowski is making us all laugh a lot. Talking about Geralt, Siri, Yennifer et al from the Witcher series. #WorldFantasy

Yeah, I think Sapkowski generally holds to the view that a misty shape in the distance can be a lot more interesting and evocative than a (if you will) fully rendered one, and this is a perspective that drives a certain sort of reader nuts

this guy is also having a terrible time in the sapkowski AMA
[man reading news]: not a fan of this worldbuilding, not very clearly explained, 2/5

Sapkowski took it further by making them literally victims of pogroms (and having Geralt die trying to stop one from happening)

The original Witcher novels are Sapkowski exploring some interesting ideas while taking the piss out of Standard Epic Fantasy, but they're also fundamentally kind of wacked out and adversarial in a way that the Netflix show never really managed to wrap its head around
I know that I have said this before, but I can't stress enough how much writing about THE WITCHER lets me understand how basic normies feel about LotR and ASOIAF. Those latter sagas? They make sense to my brain. This show? 🫠
