#qBittorrent

everything i wrote today turned out to be completely useless because qbittorrent really doesn’t seem to be made with the assumption that people will try to parse their internal state files with quick and dirty python scripts. but it still served as practice 😤💪

Many countries will be hypervigilant regarding this, so VPN up. Shop around, bc your ISP will rat you out at the slightest pressure.

For a torrent client, I recommend qbittorrent. Magnet links are best, but torrent files are good too. Remember to check what's inside. If you don't recognise it, bail

Actually, thinking about my entire mission on making a "Library of Alexandria" with 90s/2000s media by NOT USING SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES AND [going to lengths of using qBittorrent], it's like I'm advocating for "Having media and owning it permanently" instead of "WHOOPS, ITS GONE AFTER A WHILE!"

As if there weren't already enough reasons to not give Crunchyroll yer money, on top of sacking poorly paid translators and using AI bullshit, they're moving from Aegisub to Israeli software Ooona for their subs.

Download qbittorrent, and get yersel over to Nyaa.si.

my current approach is
1.) get a recent raspberry pi
2.) install OSMC as its OS (osmc.tv/download/)
3.) connect an SSD to rPi
4.) enable SMB in OSMC (enabling access to files to other devices in the network)
5.) (optionally) install qbittorrent-nox
Anyone have a good beginner guide for setting up a home media server? Search results are all over the place and have a bad signal-to-noise ratio

Somebody on reddit posted this as a good “beginner” setup 🤨

For those who rightfully don't want to resubscribe to Disney+ and are generally sick of all these disparate streaming services that keep going up in price while getting steadily worse, there's this nifty little service called Mullvad that pairs well with a fun little program called qbittorrent

Can be cleaned up but full -arr stack:
fileflows/sonarr/prowlarr/renamarr/radarr/audiobookshelf/qbittorrent/gluetun/sabnzbd/bazarr

Works well with jellyfin/plex/tailscale.

Download your preferred VPN, I like proton.

Download QBittorrent-download your favorite media

Bonus step: Download Jellyfin and maintain the streaming experience you love.

Pirate whatever you want and don't feel bad for the billion dollar companies.

HOW TO SURVIVE WITHOUT STREAMING SERVICES:

Use a VPN, such as Proton.

Download QBittorrent and pirate whatever the hell you want.

Download Jellyfin on your tv to maintain that streaming service feeling you've grown accustomed to.

DO NOT feel bad for the billion dollar companies.

easy peasy

Quick Tip: If you're torrenting [total legal open source projects], you should bind a VPN so that it only sends data over a VPN.

Here's a guide for qBittorrent (my software of choice).

I'd also recommend Mullvad, since they have been proven to not keep logs (they didn't have any to give to cops)

i have figured out another problem with the hand-me-down nerd computer! qbittorrent was bound to nordlynx for its network interface but nordvpn wasn't using the nordlynx vpn protocol! no idea what any of that means but it worked

Does anyone have a good alternative to qBittorrent?
I'm having a reoccurring problem, where the speed just trickles down to zero and often leads to the program crashing which often leads to qbittorrent being unable to be closed and needing to do a hard restart on my machine, which sucks.
