Fascinating though worrying analysis. Finlayson manages from a wholesomely detached standpoint to articulate the appeal of the populist right as a ‘common-sense’ epistemology of inductive reasoning which, however spurious, has an affective impact which a desiccated centre is powerless against.

I disagree with the idea of 100% complicity. I do think there is enough complicity, due to the influence of large campaign contributors, to make them virtually powerless.

Once again, my fellow older Americans showed up for No Kings here in Charlotte. They protest on the street near their retirement home and they are energized and vocal and I LOVE THEM ALL.

I came across Holly Whittaker at some point. I liked some elements of her attitude and not others. However, I think she was spot on in that most minorities turn to addiction *due* to being powerless.
