When I taught polpsych in NC I would note that weaker members of the SEC would hold on more tightly to group identity than, say, Alabama. These losers love fascism because they think somehow they’re gonna destroy their enemies when as soon as it happens they’re on a spit.

Thank you. I should know this because 1/3 of a century ago I was trained as a political psychologist. For better or worse, the job made me over into a policy evaluator and I let my reading in polpsych lapse. But now I’m inspired to play catch up, at least on this particular line of work.
