Yeah okay I am too! I know it's a like, likely cheaper laser BUT having an enclosure and easier UI and tbh the dual fiber/CO2 seems incredibly versatile & very much faster that my behemoth glowforge - but the fiber is also only 20w and OMTech has 60w MOPA fiber for same price???

I figured it'll take some tinkering. The other thing I was looking at was the 30w or 60w MOPA from OMTech, I'd need to get a substantial fume extractor because UGH y no enclosure option. It's say it'll get heavy hobbyist/light pro usage, so the xtool package just seems like a decent value?

Also shoutout to online hobbyist groups. None of this would have been possible for me without the extremely helpful Facebook group of Polar laser users, who produce *way* more helpful instructional materials and improvements for Omtech products than the company itself. 🫡

Also not the point of the thread, but I have had a not insignificant number of laser cutter enthusiasts this year recommend to me Omtech Products as Glowforge is both expensive and has shady proprietary TOS and if I were to pull the trigger I would go with that. Unless Brother wants to throw down

In my review years ago, what people seem to not like about their TOS and software are limitations they've added to make their product actually compliant. OMtech doesn't have this, which also means it's much easier to set your entire system on fire, which I'm not a fan of.

Got the laser all buttoned up. I even printed a fancy little cord capture to plug the hole I drilled. Now just to roll it back to its home, reattach it to the exhaust vent, and fire a project up in it.

I have a 50W Omtech Polar. We'll see how it goes! I'm reading some conflicting info about cutting or engraving silicone, sounds like it's messy and hit-or-miss. I was using EVA foam but I wanted something less squishy 🤔

I haven’t looked into this printer too much. I have a P1S and I also have an OMTech laser cutter. I feel like adding laser cutting and engraving to a 3d printer will be very messy and hard to keep clean.
