Es increíble en todos los sentidos lo visionaria que era Octavia Butler: en Xenogénesis los oankali hablan de lo tóxico (esto sí de verdad tóxico) que perciben el plástico y se menciona también que al final fue lo nuclear pero que se estaban fraguando diferentes vías para destruirlo todo...

Los hombres resistentes violan a las humanas e incluso a las oankali de aspecto femenino. Paralelismos de las violaciones cómo botín de guerra. Contengo la respiración con cada encuentro entre oankalis y humanos porque estos últimos casi siempre son diabólicos y harán daño.

Igual que la cierta condescendencia benevolente de los Oankali, su deseo de "intercambio" y extracción de recursos tanto de la tierra como de los cuerpos humanos, los sentimientos encontrados de Lilith al ver rasgos Oankali en su descendencia de raza mixta... Hay mucha miga ahí.

Claro, Butler no es tan simple como "estos son blancos malos, estos negros buenos". Mezcla muchas de sus perspectivas sobre la humanidad en general.

Pero el afán intervencionista de los Oankali (nada sucede sin su presencia) y el dolor de tener que reconstruir una cultura mixta desde cero están ahí

Más que salvajes yo interpreto que los oankali saben que los humanos son destructores por naturaleza, capaces de hacer volar por los aires hasta su propio planeta. Cómo nos retrata, a mi me da pena. Más allá de la visión colonialista blanca, es un hecho que la raza humana es peligrosa.

Not so much the book itself as discussions about it. The fact that a book that features one of the most ruthlessly evil set of antagonists I've ever read about could still garner the response "the Oankali weren't that much worse than the humans" destroyed a chunk of me.
