#o365
a group of men are sitting around a table with one of them saying one of us !
Alt: a group of men are sitting around a table punding their fists to the table, chanting "One of us! One of us!"

Friday fun: You’ve been attacked by a group of 7yr old Ransomware actors. AD has “gone bye bye” and now you have no O365 and no SSO. You have a huge delivery due to a customer next week. You won’t make that.

You need to write the first comms statement…

Wrong answers only!

MAS
As of October 14, 2025, Office 2016 and 2019 have reached their end-of-life. 🕯️

You can change your installed Office edition to 2021/2024 or O365 using the "Change Office Edition" option in MAS.

Somehow I didn’t realize they had separate apps on iOS and not just O365

university IT is so underfunded, and in general so bad that the idea of digging out of AD/O365 dependence and migrating is a distant dream for most. the problem perpetuates itself (retention). there's a reason university websites were historically considered an open door for the hacker community.

Microsoft really goes out of their way to hide all the software you get with a O365 subscription in a way that is baffling while also charging for stuff that would make them a powerhouse if included.

I was able to follow this and it was so viscerally annoying that I’m going to use a different e-sign product very soon, what idiot made document processing for O365 require an Azure tenant
You want to try Microsoft sign? It’s simple, set up a pay as you go tenant in Azure, enable signing within Word, and push a group policy update out to every machine to enable it in the word ribbon.

Olisi mielenkiintoista tietää, paljonko Suomessa julkinen sektori lappaa "automaationa" Microsoftille rahaa vuosittain. Vaihtaessa tosin muutosvastarinta tulisi olemaan kovaa.

Yep. I cancelled my o365 sub, and all but one machine (excluding work laptop where I have no choice) is running linux at home now ... So fed up with the constant and sneaky push of AI into everything by MS (also, is it just me, or is windows just getting worse with every release now?)

depends on the email provider, and it’s been awhile since i’ve done it, but back when i was on O365, powerautomate was pretty great at tasks like this (i used it for creating enrollment rosters)

I don’t use O365 personally. I stopped using Microsoft when it went to a subscription model. I can still be mad about AI being forced into absolutely everything and hoovering up all our own work.

And if you have O365 E5 licenses they make it very easy to run this & get all the training stats you want!

We found it to be Actually Useful which isn’t a thing I ever thought I’d say about phishing training. Taught a lot of folks where the report menu was.

Microsoft currently serves many government of not sanctioned customers. If it is shown that the USG could arbitrarily cut access to Azure/O365 services some of those governments will re-evalute their risk posture.
Many have warned about it for years, the USG may just prove then right

As a guy who works in IT I think a lot about how being a Microsoft Exchange admin used to be a great job, but then O365 ate that up. The response isn’t to ban O365, it’s to build some flexibility I to your career path and look for hazards on the horizon.

Seeing some weird stuff in our commercial O365 licensing stuff, too.

Pretty frustrating, because I can't continue without accepting their license terms, and can't accept their license terms because...
