Pictures from the first day on the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi from Tanabe to Chikatsuyu in Japan. February's a great time to be on that trail, with very few others (probably about a dozen per day per segment). #japan

The Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage begins! I'm not hiking the whole Nakahechi Route, just Takijiro-oji Shrine to Chikatsuyu Village, then Hosshinmon-oji Shrine to the Kumano Hongu Taisha.

Along the amazing Kumano Kodo Nakahechi route you will find in autumn some of the most amazing scenic view that Japan can offer. Granted that the trail can be sometimes hard on your legs, the overall journey is still something worth doing if you enjoy nature and history!⁣⁣
