#modality
On this Veteran’s Day, we shine a vital spotlight on treatment resistant PTSD and related conditions.

Special thanks to @governor.ca.gov and those seeking to accelerate the safe and appropriate use of psychedelics as a modality to help those with treatment resistant conditions.

don't— he wants the attention. it's obviously not hitting but he is chasing the dragon. the only way he knows how to soothe himself is by being obscene around women by every modality of human interaction.

A new twist to the idea that future tense use affects decision making👇 Cole Robertson @seangroberts.bsky.social et al show it’s not future tense that drives psychological discounting but how people express the possibility of future events happening (modality). authors.elsevier.com/c/1m4gJ2Hx2-...

It's really interesting to me to see people run down cognitive behavioral therapy in the past 5 years or so and makes me suspect there's a bunch of therapists out there who are absolute ass at it, which is potentially true of any modality.

I think we use our results in this study to make a pretty good case why course modality might be better assigned for FYW based on something like directed self-placement with procedures in place for students to learn how to learn in various modalities. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Preparing for a new paradigm: A mixed-methods study of student experience in on-site, hybrid, and online writing courses
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly all students have had some kind of experience with modalities beyond traditional, on-site teaching. We wa…

so yeah, unfortunately the market is still very much stuck in a low cost modality because buyers still see ebikes as "nicer bikes" instead of the far more transformative new device they are. This may be where Rivian has a chance to rebrand them as a "device," but ~$4k is still a lot of scratch

Athleticide is a modality of genocide designed to eradicate cultural expression, identity, and representation.

It is a significant feature of Israel’s ongoing genocidal project in Gaza.
22 authors in a new OA peer-reviewed article in Soc of Sport Journal:

Israel is committing *athleticide* in Gaza, "an indispensable component of the overall genocidal campaign enforced by the Israeli settler colonial regime and bankrolled by the US."

smell is the most lovecraftian sensory modality: primitive, wired directly to the limbic system, with non-euclidean perceptual organization (odor space is hyperbolic), its dysfunction auguring dementia

Not sure who is being subtweeted here, but yeah… it’s tiring when it happens.

Like, fair, there are some cases, where the only issue is not staying in your lane, but most of the time your gender modality doesn’t make the difference between the behaviour being okay and not okay.

45 min of walking was an excellent choice. Esp after doing some compound moves across big muscle systems.

The gym isn’t just about gains and numbers.

Sometimes, and also, it’s about being in your body completely.

No matter the modality.

A lot of fly-by-night training schools and practitioners love it because it's very highly manualized, so it's easy to train on. Health insurance has decided that it won't pay for anything else, so every other modality magically became CBT, causing further confusion with clients.

We argue in this peer-reviewed article that 'athleticide' is a modality of cultural genocide, in turn part of a larger genocidal project of eradication, and has been a feature of the US-NATO-funded Israeli state’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023.

An I F S therapist just gaslit me by asking, "IF IFS is bad for DID, why did you keep going to that therapist?"

My response to these flying monkey is to use their abusive modality on them, so: "Repeat that out loud. Are you in Self? Is that your protector lashing out?" LMAO f these people. Truly.

I'll be delivering the 3rd talk in my Lunar Nodes series next Friday, Nov 14th, to the Bedford Astrology Club.

I'm working on the slides right now and here's a taster of how things are shaping up:

And sometimes they'll surprise themselves by getting into a sense modality that they've not had as much success with before, because you're giving them room to explore internally at their own pace.

It's a hack to prey on the human nervous system fear response. All manners of attempted control utilize this tactic, tale as old as time. Religion is the favorite modality, but now we have media. When you heal your nervous system, these tactics don't work anymore. Can speak from experience 😁😁😁

I agree. And I have been a capitalism fangirl for decades. The time has come for another modality.

n.b. the last couple of chapters (on sexuality/gender) are completely bonkers and can be safely disregarded; fortunately, modern practitioners of transactional analysis as a therapeutic modality generally seem to recognize this too

Sometimes these words unplug a certain sense modality, like "glow," but if you've been careful to ask them to imagine (rather than see, hear, feel), people will often reframe it in their head. A friend who couldn't visualize a glow felt it as a warmth inside them, like a candle in a jack-o'-lantern.

Look, the obsession with weight loss is A Problem but metabolism affects every goddamned thing and fixing up your metabolism may help everything a lot.

I ignored all the“ fat burning zone” stuff bc I didn’t want an eating disorder. Good call, but I missed an entire exercise modality I needed. Oops.
I'm gonna need folks to understand that just because the worst people in America are obsessed with GLP-1s exclusively because of weight loss does not mean they are not LIFE SAVING for a lot of people.

There's a reason they're studying their impact on Long Covid right now.

🧠 How do tDCS + acupuncture modulate brain activity in chronic pain?
Using our Starstim, researchers found distinct CBF changes with each modality in cLBP patients.
👏 Kudos to the authors!

People coming forward about how a therapeutic modality harmed them is not a "hit piece." And no, it did not require a defense. Would you say the same about ABA? No? All right then. The "defense" is the whole world out there defending a harmful modality like it's a cult.

Most multimodal models treat images as sidekicks to text. ThinkMorph rejects that. Inspired by human “think-and-sketch” strategies, it weaves visual and verbal reasoning into a single coherent chain, each modality pushing the other forward.
