FINALLY GOT MY MM2024 MIKU PLUSH OMG SHES ADORABLE
MM2024's sorting drives me insane. It feels like it's made for people who have encyclopedic knowledge of all the monsters and just need to look up a stat block (also reduced lore!). MM2014's discovery is easier. Similar creatures bunched together makes it easier to craft cohesive encounters

I'm getting better at merging various versions of monsters together to get what I want. Giant toads had Monster Manual 2024 attacks with all the numbers subbed out with Forge of Foes templates at an appropriate CR. Treants were mix-and-match FM and MM2024.

But if the CR delta is almost universally positive for MM2024 legendaries, doesn’t that mean that they’re more likely to whomp a party for whom they’re expected to be a reasonable challenge for?

From my reading - the lizardfolk statblocks are elemental as those two particular ones have specific links/draw specific energy from the Elemental Plane of Earth. The overarching paragraph in MM2024 says /2

I don't understand the hue and cry about drow and orcs not being included as monsters in the MM2024.
Like...they're NPCs. Use the stats of the various NPC characters in the MM and give them the appropriate species traits.
Is there something outside of this that I'm not getting?

Reviews are in for the MM2024, and no monster creation rules in D&D 2024 (I'm not counting what is in the DMG 2024). Incredibly disappointing for homebrewers - especially after being told the DMG 2014 version is incorrect by a lead designer. Pretty disappointed.
