The "multi floor minidungeon filled with enemies or boss rematches" is one of my favorite Zelda traditions.

This guy made a room a day dungeon last month. He’s doing it again, but also (maybe) a weekly Random Mini Dungeon as well!

OSRS still amazes me some days. Today, it amazes me how they made a midgame boss minidungeon where players are incentivized to ignore or outright avoid joining during any mechanic that doesn't outright kill them.

The ghost ship taking all this effort to find (needing to traverse a minidungeon to find a special chart that'll tell you where it appears depending on moon phases) but the ship itself being yet another single-screen combat room (and not even the best one) is such a huge bummer

I dunno how indicative it is, but the entireity of Zelda 1's world map is contained in the bottom left corner of Zelda 2's (the area around the minidungeon where you get the hammer) so Nintendo themselves might've been "look how much bigger scope THIS game has!"

Man, some of the "caves" in this game are really neat. I mean, there are a lot of little nothing caves, but every so often you get something devilish like two quicksand whirlpools close together to navigate to find a Shrine. One of them's a quicksand challenge, the other's a minidungeon.

Back on the personal quest side: they are one on one hangouts you have to initiate at a given place and function more or less like a minidungeon. A bit archaic as far as quest implementation goes and doesn't slot into the flow of the plot at all, but eh, could be worse.

I cannot understate how much I LOVE the Pirate's Fortress as a minidungeon. Taking the short and somewhat clunky Gerudo Fortress from OoT and turning it into a full scale infiltration mission that utilizes all of your TF Masks is AWESOME. And your reward being the Hookshot is the icing on the cake.
