Beaded Archimedean Solids!!!

I had lots of fun over the past two weeks making these for the pigeonholes at the TMiP conference.

[Each n-regular graph has an n-colouring and there's a pair of colours on each one which form a Hamiltonian cycle.]

Finalists in the Anomalous Mathematical Patterns Sci-Art Contest (held in conjunction with a research program at the Isaac Newton Research Institute) have been announced. I am astonished and honoured that my piece Corner Percolation is among them; there were SO many entries. #mathart #mathsart

A knight's tour of a 32x32 chessboard. The knight's path is unicursal. If you start in the lower left corner and follow the path move by move, you will visit each square once and only once and end near the lower right corner. Inspiration: Szpakowski's linear ideas. #mathart #mathsart #orms #chess

For any polygon, the maximum number of diagonals that can intersect at a point (that is not the centre) is 7.

On this piece, I painted the prime numbers, numbers only divisible by themselves and 1. You can't multiply other numbers together to get them. They are the foundations on which all other numbers are built, and for this reason, quite magical.

A knight's tour of a 32x32 chessboard. The knight's path can be traced without lifting one's writing implement from the surface of the paper. This tour is close to having 180-degree rotational symmetry and vertical and horizontal mirror symmetries. #mathart #mathsart #chess
