COLD STUNNED ENDANGERED SEA TURTLES

This year’s sea turtle stranding season is officially here as Mass Audubon and the New England Aquarium confirm local strandings.

Well over 1,000 endangered Kemp’s ridley, and loggerhead turtles will undergo life-saving treatment.

We are hopeful it will continue to heal and be returned to the Gulf. This is great news for this loggerhead, which often do have a good prognosis for survival.

In September, near Sargent Beach, a sick and debilitated loggerhead sea turtle washed ashore. Thanks to Jami Hayes and her crew who called the state sea turtle hotline. (cw animal death) shrikes are cute but kind of freaky. they eat insects, small mammals, lizards, and other birds despite being quite small themselves, and tend to cache their dead prey on thorns or other sharp objects (both to eat later and to mark their territory for other shrikes.)
