Yamaha, Yanagisawa, Selmer y Keilwerth son las marcas que buscas, pero también son carillas. Jean Paul, P. Mauriat, Cannonball y Remy son más baratos y siguen teniendo buen nivel para principiante-medio e incluso medio-avanzado.

I've spent that much twice: once on my Yamaha alto ($1800), once on a Keilwerth soprano ($1500). I got lucky with the Keilwerth as it was an online buy, albeit of a highly reputed make. I played the alto before I bought it, but it's of Yamaha's pro line. Worth it.
