With KDHX dead, I’ve been looking for a new alarm clock. I believe I found it.
🫵🏾 Put that work in.

Okay so the old KDHX/88.1 is now a station called Jams and they played a club remix of Leanne Rimes Can’t Fight The Moonlight from the Coyote Ugly soundtrack. And…I liked it.

Mourning the loss of community radio station 88.1 KDHX in St. Louis. What a huge loss for the city and music at large. Management done fucked around and alienated on-air talent, volunteers, and community donors.

88.1 KDHX St. Louis, which has only been playing music since January, is now off the air.

Its now airing Jams from 95.5 KXBS-HD2 while former DJs and volunteers will soon launch an online stream to keep the legacy of KDHX alive.

Sad to see what KDHX had become. It’s an old song - corruption and abuse of power have consequences.
KDHX 88.1 FM has ceased operations, and its leaders say a digital-only reincarnation is coming by 2027.

Former KDHX DJs announced they've found a home for their own online station, though a launch date is not yet in place.

Former DJs and others who valued the community-based mission of the original KDHX have organized and are now fundraising for a new station and hosting ongoing community programming.

KDHX in St. Louis was just purposely destroyed very recently. Def heard so much new and weird music through them. I even made a friend by calling into his show and winning tickets one day. That’s not how radio stations usually work!

I would love someone to explore the rise of St. Louis Magazine. 15 years ago, I didn't give the outlet any thought, but we still had RFT, excellent food and culture writing in multiple places, KDHX, etc. But STL Mag has absolutely taken up the void left by those losses, incl hiring their best staff

Weird/bittersweet to see this old link to a story by a KDHX volunteer, a community radio station in St. Louis which was loved by many but has gone off the air in the last year after very controversial leadership choices.

Just had the death of my favorite radio station here in St Louis. KDHX was a community radio station, non-profit. The executive director and the chairman of the board ran it into the ground intentionally, and got in cahoots with a christian group to basically sell the license to.

KDHX no longer broadcasting robo-playlists. Dead air when I turned it on in the car this morning. I’m assuming the courts have finalized the transaction.
