Kiana asks "Ready to head over?", as Lily stands in silence. Kiana giggles "Hmm?, and Lily says "Ah sorry! I'm ready to go. I just got surprised by how pretty you are, that dress looks beautiful on you.", to which Kiana replies "You're so sweet, my dear. You look absolutely lovely as well, Lily. Tonight's going to be fun!"

We cut to Lily and Kiana finishing up dessert at a restaurant, sitting at a tableclothed table with a small, lit candle in the middle. "That tasted SO good, I could eat that tiramisu forever and be happy." Lily says, Kiana responding "I'm right there with you! We'll have to thank Q for the recommendation, this was delightful." Lily smiles "We certainly will! They always seem to find the best food places."

We see Kiana lying on the couch of the apartment, looking up at the ceiling with her hands folded on her stomach, Tiny Cat curled ip and sleeping on her legs.

Lily pokes her head into the room and says "Alright, our dinner reservation is in an hour and -- hey, are you okay?", to which Kiana replies "Ah, I'm just a litle stressed about work, sorry I'll go get ready." Lily stops her, saying "Do you want to talk about it? We have as much time as you need."

Kiana then responds "Yeah, maybe. Thank you. I guess I'm mostly stressed about one of my managers -- the one in charge of our scheduling. He's loose with his responsibilities, but gets on us about ours, and tries to change our schedules on a whim -- oh, and this is only to the women that he does all of this. He tried to double-schedule me for today, but after having a really helpful chat with Amanda, I went in and put my foot down."

Lily notes "And good for you for standing up for yourself! You should't have to deal with that.", to which Kiana replies "Thank you, my dear flower. It's a lot, but I still love the work. It can really make me doubt myself, though. Am I just lazy? Or not ready for the 'real world'?"

Lily walks over and gently holds Kiana's head in her hands, looking down at her and reassuring her "You're not lazy, you're just very tired -- reasonably so.", as Kiana replies "I suppose you've got a point. Thank you."

Lily stops, then says "Here -- who are you?" Kiana, slightly confused, says "Hm? Kiana?", as Lily continues "And who am I?", to which Kiana hesitantly says "Lily?" Lily continues "And who are we?", and Kiana giggles "We're...-- wait what are you saying? You sound like a cheerleader." (Tiny Cat has pom poms and is in a cheering stance)

Lily pauses, then goes "...I forgot what I was saying, I got distracted by how cute you are. It was gonna be super inspirational too..."

Kiana lightly laughs "You're so goofy, my dear flower. I really love that about you.", as Lily says "Well, I think I'm just naturally unserious about most things. The world is too silly and weird to stay serious."

A difficult day at work 😞

We see Amy sitting at a table, looking up from a book she's reading to overhear a conversation in the background between Kiana and her manager. Kiana says "You want me to what?", as the manager (off-screen) replies "I just changed your schedule so you're now working tomorrow morning and night." Kiana insists "But I can't come in tomorr-" and is cut off by her manager, who interjects "Thank you Kiana, good luck!"

Kiana walks across the back of the counter, past another employee who asks "Don't you have that Valentine's dinner with your girlfriend [smaller text, slightly greyed -- to indicate a whisper] tomorrow?". Kiana says "I'm going on my break.", and walking past the employee says "And you don't have to whisper 'girlfriend'."

Amy is still listening in, and Tiny Cat puts her book down, alerted at the developments in the background

Kiana comes to Amy's table and sits down across from Amy. Amy opens "Wanna talk?", to which Kiana responds "I think I would like that, thank you."

Amy starts "So what was that all about - oh, sorry for listening to you talk to your manager.", as Kiana says "Ah, so you heard that. I don't mind -- he's a loud speaker anyways, I'd be surprised if anyone here didn't hear." She laughs it off "It's nothing new, really. He's always changing our schedules around, it can get quite annoying. Especially since it only happens to the women..." she trails off

Amy notes "Only annoying? He's not even remotely allowed to do that, and you all are forced to just deal with him? Why doesn't anyone do anything about it?", which Kiana responds "I suppose we all are worried about stirring up conflict. Things are stable enough for everyone, and at least for me, I wouldn't want for there to be any repercussions for the others if I speak up."

Tiny Cat stands attentively, putting her book on her back to carry it easier

Amy closes her book and puts it in her lap. She says to Kiana "Kiana, there are repercussions you and everyone are already feeling, and will continue to feel if no one does anything for make it better. You have an important date with your GIRLFRIEND [larger and bolded to indicate it being spoken a bit loud] that you both worked towards and set aside time for. Your work is to support your life, not to take from it."

Kiana, taking that in, notes "That makes enough sense. I'm still worried about creating conflict, that feels aggressive.", to which Amy replies "Conflict isn't good or bad or anything inherently, it's how you do it and what it's for that actually matters. Standing up to injustice is good, right?" Kiana goes "If you put it like that... yeah, actually. It's okay, isn't it?", to which Amy says "I would say so, but that's for you to determine for yourself."

Kiana giggles at this, "For how straightforward you are, you don't give out many easy answers, do you?", as Amy chuckles "I guess so.", then goes on "Life isn't easy, so it would feel irresponsible to pretend that it is when giving advice."

Kiana ends "I do appreciate that and you for talking with me. My break is over; I think I'm going to go have a very important conversation now."

Tiny Cat, realizing the book is heavy, plops onto the ground and falls asleep happily

Moving day! 📦🚚 A day of many emotions 😌

The first of four pages of a digital black and white comic, top right caption: Ch.29 P.1

We open in Kiana's room, with her (wearing a turtleneck and dark pants, no earrings) standing, arms folded, and sighing while looking at the room.

Her room is simply decorated, with a leather desk chair at her desk, which has an ambiguous houseplant next to it on the ground, as well as a lily in a pot by her keyboard and computer monitor. In the background, there are plushies (of Grob, Mush, a coffee mug, an avocado, and... Tiny Cat?) on her bed at her pillows. Hanging on the wall, behind and a bit to the side of the bed, are two framed pictures. The first is of a small Kiana, with her arms around a femme person with multicolored locs tied loosely by a hairband and thrown over on shoulder (presumably a family member). Lily says "No worries! I just wanted to see if you needed any help in here. If you want to take a break, we absolutely can." Kiana insists "Oh, no I can keep going. I just have a lot on my mind -- with moving out and all that. I can get back to working, it's okay." Lily, sensing something wrong, replies "Well if you want that, I won't stop you. But if you have a lot on your mind, would you instead want to sit on the bed with me and talk about it?"

The two are now sitting on the bed next to each other, with Kiana having her hands folded on her lap and Lily having hers in her pocket. Kiana, looking around the room, starts "I think the idea of packing away my room is a lot, and it's a little overwhelming." Lily adds "That's completely understandable! There's a lot of significance here, so many memories of coming back to this room as 'home'."

Kiana notes "It almost feels like saying goodbye to a loved one. I think... I think I want to spend some time alone in here. To really let myself feel that 'goodbye'." Lily, wanting to help, goes "Oh absolutely! I'll be outside, then. Just let me know if you need anything, okay?"

Kiana replies "I will. Thank you for giving me the space I need, I promise it won't take too long.", to which Lily immediately says "Don't worry about that at all, take as much time as you need. I'll be outside if you need anything!"

Kiana giggles "You already said that, silly. I love you, and if I need anything, I'll let you know.", as Lily laughs, a little embarrassed, "Ah, I suppose I did... I love you too!"

Chapter 28 of the "I don't mind." comic!!

An evening conversation between sibling and sister 😌🌙

A colorless digital comic, the first of four pages. Top right caption: Ch.28 P.1

We open in a starry nighttime scene, in a natural area (near Amy and Q's home), where Q (a tall masc person wearing a long sweater) and Amy (a shorter woman wearing a hoodless sweatshirt with a panda image on it) sitting in lawn chairs next to each other. In the background are shadows of trees and bushes (and of a mysterious little Tiny Cat! 🙃)

Q starts "What's it all about?", to which Amy bluntly responds "What are you talking about?" To this, Q giggles and replies "Oh nothing in particular. It's just something Lily said to me once, and it made me think." Amy says "Yeah that sounds right. You two love your abstract, don't you?", to which Q laughs "I can't deny that."

Q continues "Life, though. That question was about life. About knowledge and belief. What does it all mean?" Amy replies "Why should 'it all' mean anything? Noting /needs/ meaning."

Q then asks "If there isn't inherent meaning in anything, then where do we find purpose?"

Amy goes on to say "Purpose comes from inside of us. It might feel like meaning is arbitrary - and in a vacuum it is. But that's boring and pointless. To some degree, we choose what to care about, and only have control over our view of the world. The only one who can live your life is you. No one can or should control what you find meaning from. At the end of the day, none of us 'know' anything, so follow what you believe in."

Q, quietly ruminating, pauses then says "Yeah... I like that."

Tiny Cat is standing in between them, purely baffled at what is being said

Turning to Amy, Q asks "Where do you find meaning from, sis?" Amy, thinking, goes "I don't know, I guess. It's hard to see that in myself."

Q then asks Amy "Don't you find that scary? You could find yourself on a dangerous path if you can't see where it goes." To that, Amy confidently says "Well I know I love you and I love Lily with every piece of myself. I don't think I need to know where that path goes to choose to follow it."

After a silence, Q goes "... I hope we can all follow that path together. I love you too, big sister." Amy, laughing a little, says to them "Don't you dare make me cry." Q, also starting to cry a bit, laughs "Right back at you."

As Lily descends into an anxious spiral, Kiana hugs her head, soothing her saying "Heyyy... heyyy... you're okay. You don't need to be nervous, but it's okay that you are. Clearly what you're thinking of means a lot to you, and you don't need to ask me yet if you're not ready. I'll still be here. Just breathe."

Lily breathes in, and breathes out. "Thank you. I think I just got scared of the weight of it, and of being too eager, and putting a strain on our relationship. I think I'm okay now." to which Kiana says "Whatever you say, I will listen earnestly."

Tiny Cat, plopped on the couch and sleeping, is now sliding over the edge oh dear

Lily holds Kiana's hug and calms down in it, saying "I know this might be early to ask, and I don't want me asking this to force an answer from you. Um... Would you wanna live together?"

Kiana, seeming a little surprised, says "Oh! Yes, I think I'd love to!"

Lily then responds "Oh thank goodness, I'm so relieved... You sounded a little surprised at that, why's that?", as Kiana blushes and says "It seems I was the eager one. I thought you were going to ask something else..."

Lily asks "Oh? What question would that be?", and Kiana thinks a bit, then goes "Mmmmm -- Not telling! ~", as Lily giggles "Oh now I /gotta/ find out!"

Q responds, "I am as well. [turning to Kiana] I've heard /plenty/ about you from this one [Lily], Kiana. For quite a while now too!" Kiana, leaning back a little into Lily's hands, giggles "Oh? You've had your eye on me for a while now, huh cutie?"

Lily, embarrassed, says "Ah well... hey Q I can take that box off your hands if you want!" Q, with a slight chuckle, says "How kind of you."

Tiny Cat is now in the box

As Lily walks away with the box, blushing a bit at that interaction and at hearing them talk now, Q says to Kiana "I see she's still as shy as ever about love, hun?"

Kiana responds "Oh definitely! Though she communicates that love in her own way. Lily's become quite special to me.", to which Q says "I'm overjoyed she's found someone so sweet who cares about her, and who sees who she truly is. Lily may be too modest to admit it, but she means quite a lot to many people. Perhaps to Amy and I the most. Our lives wouldn't be the same without her."

Kiana says "It's wonderful to hear such kindness be spoken of the person I love. If you wouldn't mind, would you share more?", to which Q replies "It would be my distinct pleasure."

Tiny Cat has jumped down from the box and is now looking up at Kiana

Q, with tears forming at the corner of their eyes, tells "Amy and I grew up together in an orphanage, in... well, I'll say 'less-than-favorable' circumstances. Occasionally, Lily and her mother would help a non-profit that held events -- fundraisers to help keep orphanage stable, and to promote the adoption center to potential parents.

"Later in our lives after having found a home together, Amy and I met Lily again in middle school, and over time became as close as family with her and her mom. She showed us unending kindness in the face of a world that gave us little support, and instilled in me the confidence to go through my transition, despite Amy's and my parents' lack of support. Lily can be shy, and is often afraid, but has endless courage to stand up for what she believes in, and who she cares about. I hope to one day be that kind. Make sure to cherish her."

Kiana enters Lily's apartment as Lily is brining in two mugs of coffee, as Lily notes "I can't wait to watch the movie you brought!", to which Kiana notes "Me too! I think you'll find it interesting. The new coffee table is lovely as well!"

Lily replies "Ah thank you! I just
recently got it at a garage sale. Feel free to get comfy, I'll go get the blanket."

The window outside has darkened to show the passage of time, and Kiana is wrapped up in a large blanket on the couch, snuggling up to Lily, who is sitting on the couch with part of the blanket over her lap. Both are looking at the viewer, in place of a tv where the frame would be.

About the movie, Lily brings up "A lot of commentary on belief in this. You were right, very interesting."

Kiana notes "It's a weird dynamic, knowledge and belief. You can't have one without the other, and they vary in importance based on the individual and the subject."

Tiny Cat has jumped onto the coffee table and is looking into the cup.

Kiana asks, "How do see it all, Lily? Knowledge, faith, what does it mean to you?"

Lily says "Great question, and I'll ask you the same after this. I haven't thought about it much."

Kiana then says "I haven't much either. Though I do wanna hear what my thoughtful
girlfriend thinks.", to which Lily responds "Oh, you..."

Tiny Cat has dunked her head into the cup on the table, as the intrusive thoughts have taken over.

Lily begins, "To a certain degree, all knowledge comes down to belief. There are certain ideas you have to already accept -- to already have 'faith' in -- to deem them worthy of being personal truths. Based on that, all belief comes down to knowledge, and in thinking too hard it becomes a futile cycle of trying to find meaning."

Kiana notes to her, "Abstraction to that degree will always result in futility, my dear over-thinker. Meaning is only what we make it out to be; it's what we feel is right rather than any perfect reasoning."

Lily then responds "Yeah huh, great point. I have difficulty holding onto faith without perfect reasoning, which I get is thinking too hard again but I can't help myself (haha). I'll never fault anyone for faith though -- as long as it doesn't bring harm, of course -- regardless of if I agree or not. To have such strong source of hope can't be all too bad for the world, I suppose.", and Kiana says "Couldn't agree more."

Tiny Cat pulls her head out of the cup, as it is poofy and soaked. She thinks of her actions, but will not learn from this. The chaos will live on in this one.

Opening inside Lily's home, Tiny Cat is loafed on the couch, curious at what is happening at the door. In the background, Lily is opening the front door and waving to someone outside the frame, saying "Hey, I'm glad you could make it! I hope the rain wasn't too bad on the way over."

Tiny Cat gets up from her loafing to see Kiana walk in, with Lily closing the door behind them, revealing, through the window, rain outside. Kiana asks "When are the others arriving?" as she goes to look at a flower in a vase (the same flower from Chapter 18), saying quietly to it "Hey... I recognize you, little lily."

Lily responds "Q had something come up, and Amy wanted to stay home because of the rain."

Kiana sits down on the sofa, sitting very upright and with her hands tucked in between her legs. Tiny Cat is sitting right next to her and is looking up at her expectantly. Kiana asks "Does Amy not like rain?", to which Lily -- coming around to the other side of the sofa -- replies "Well she doesn't dislike the rain, she and I are alike in that rainy days make us sleepy. I, personally, absolutely love the rain, it invites coziness into a day. You?"

Kiana "I feel similarly, there's nothing better than reading a good book under a blanket while listening to the beautiful little raindrops."

On the side, Kiana notes "You have a lovely house, by the way", with Lily responding "Oh thank you!"

As Lily sits down, Kiana continues, saying "The sadness a lot of people associate with rain is misplaced, I believe. There's a serenity that comes with the low-energy days that puts me at ease."

Lily then says "Association is a powerful thing. People naturally want to pair an emotion with anything -- it makes it simpler to think, after all. Though I think that can lead to a lack of consideration for things, for people, being just the way they are, nothing less and nothing more."

Kiana then plops her head on Lily's shoulder happily, giggling "Agreed. If we're not careful, we might start associated rainy days with happiness.", as Lily replies "Well... I don't think I would mind that."

As Kiana puts their head on Lily's shoulder, Lily surprisedly, yet pleasantly, says quietly "Oh hi there haha", Kiana going "I'll just get cozy here". Lily laughs "Make yourself at home, dear guest" as Kiana replies "Why thank you"
