BCL-2, Laminin Reveal Hirschsprung Disease Mechanisms
In a groundbreaking study set to redefine our understanding of Hirschsprung disease (HSCR) and its devastating complication, Hirschsprung-Associated Enterocolitis (HAEC), researchers have moved beyond the classical explanation centered on aganglionosis to identify crucial molecular signatures involving BCL-2 and Laminin. This innovative work opens new avenues for therapeutic intervention and diagnostic precision in a complex pediatric condition that has long challenged clinicians and scientists alike.

Thank you for sharing your daughter's experiences with HSCR. I am moved by this story, and it gives me a renewed sense of purpose for our research. We are currently strategizing ways to extend our work to non-zebrafish animal models to propel its impact. I will keep posting about our journey.

It is true that compared with other diseases, very little is done on HSCR. But that is slowly changing, and there are more and more of us every year, so I am optimistic.

CircRNAs Drive Neural Crest Migration in Hirschsprung’s Disease
In a groundbreaking development in the understanding of Hirschsprung’s disease (HSCR), recent research has illuminated the complex molecular interplay involving circular RNAs (circRNAs) and their regulatory role in enteric neural crest cell (ENCC) migration. HSCR is a congenital disorder characterized by the absence of enteric ganglia in parts of the intestine, resulting from defective proliferation and migration of ENCCs during embryonic development.
