I love ancient historical buildings and feel they should be protected.

"Unity" was the all-pervasive theme of the Congress.
Given the threat from without and the "threat" from within it didn't prove very hard for the leadership to get draconian measures accepted. These were still further to restrict the rights of Party members.
Factional rights were abolished:
"The Congress prescribes the rapid dispersal of all groups without exception which have formed themselves on one platform or another...failure to execute this decision of the Congress will lead to immediate and unconditional expulsion from the Party".
