I see stories like this all the time. You can blame Hamas or whoever. But if I was an Israeli citizen living just across the wall with Gaza, sipping wine and eating a hearty meal of the kosher beef of my choice while this is going on next door. I honestly don't think I could live with myself.

A rare patch of winter sun warmed the outer edge of Yeosang's favorite rug at the culmination of the downstairs hallway.

It lay beneath an old circular stained glass window that painted the floor in splashes of color, and if he timed his naps just right, he could imagine laying in a wash of watercolors; an appropriate feeling as this section of the house was used solely as studios and workshops, hidden beneath the comfort of their home. This particular area was for him — demarcated by the round woven rug and the small but plush loveseat meant for two, and the floor to ceiling bookcases on either side. His library wasn't large nor hidden away, but it was his in every way.

Currently he had company in a very pretty fawn-colored feline stretched out atop Yeosang's side and purring so loudly with contentment he almost feared to breathe lest he disrupt Yunho's catnap. It had taken some time for their pup to feel comfortable enough to try something as domestic as a cat but supposedly it was the closest he could get to a dog without triggering a panic attack. Frankly, Yeosang would be happy to see Yunho in whatever form he felt like but he also understood Yunho was taking steps to regain comfort and familiarity with possibly being their dog again. A dog again. Not theirs, not yet anyway.

Yeosang snorted softly and readjusted the tiniest amount. They still hadn't extended the offer to join the coven and it was starting to chafe. He knew Hongjoong wanted to wait but Yeosang couldn't help but worry over how delaying something so precious might end up hindering their chances instead of bolstering them.

Nevertheless, he would ensure Yunho had a good time as much as possible and part of that had been inviting him down into the place where the magic concentrated within their home. Of the three enclosed spaces, Wooyoung was the only witch while the other two housed Mingi's artistic endeavors and San's collection of crafty odds and ends. They were neat, he supposed, but not as cozy as his spot at the end of the hall.

He liked that Yunho liked keeping him company, ensuring each afternoon nap was together as the days marched deeper into winter, snuggling up as beasts without the need for silly things like propriety or embarrassment at being on top of one another. Happiness expressed through tail wags and nose nudges instead of stumbling over words and decorum. And, perhaps the first time in many long years, a piece of Yeosang breathed in relief because of it. Because he had another shifter like himself to silently communicate with, to play with. Some days Yunho would spend the whole thing as a raccoon or a fox and they'd wrestle for hours, pausing only to pant and collapse into one another before starting all over again.

It seemed to be a good outlet for Yunho too — as the evidence of him had started to thread into every room of their home. They often found him belly up under a sunbeam, or smiled whenever they heard the cry of some bird swooping through the skies above; after a particularly blustery day, one of his feathers fell and Seonghwa had been quick to place it on the mantel next to one of his own. Fur and dander covered every surface but he also cleaned up every morning after breakfast before asking around for other ways to help. If no one had a task, he'd use those damn perfect puppy eyes until someone caved to take him treasure hunting. He absolutely loved the tide pools and finding little trinkets and Yeosang felt himself falling faster and faster with each passing day — and the rest of the coven was only half a step behind him.

He turned to watch the cat on his back lift its head to blink slowly at him, the sweetest pleased curl of Yunho's mouth and flick of his ears. Yeosang let loose a quiet 'wuff', teeth chattering momentarily before he could get a handle on it. The urge to drag him close and bite was getting harder and harder to ignore each day. When he was human it was easier to push down, but as a dog Yeosang just wanted to get his teeth around him and slobber over whatever he was allowed.

Yunho chirped in response and stretched, long and lean, before sliding down and flopping dramatically between Yeosang's paws. He was just so cute and perfect and Yeosang found himself chewing on Yunho's ear before he made a conscious decision to do so. Not hard, of course, but a nibbling, gnawing sort of grind that he started to follow up with hearty licks to soothe any possible aches. The purr that rumbled out of Yunho's chest was louder than ever and encouraged Yeosang to keep going, licking across Yunho's ears and face, eventually even his sides and back.

Small fawn paws kneaded into the fur on his chest, pulling a very pleased chuff from him as Yeosang allowed himself to get a little lost in the grooming. Only once Yunho was limp on his back and Yeosang was nose deep into the softest belly fur imaginable did he actually realize how far into the session they'd gotten and finally pulled back, tail smacking the rug in happiness as Yunho slipped again into dreamland.

Now if only he could do the same thing when they were both human, he'd be much happier.

What drives me crazy about modern pokemon is how every person you interact with is giving you some kind of breakdown of the mechanics. SOME of them can do that but MOST should just be saying that they love hearty stews in winter or that they collect model trains
