the proposed data center taking a third of the power generated by a single nuclear plant should be something that makes this a regional issue. people need to get back to using their harddrives.

A live linux ISO is just a flashed USB drive to boot from it. It will boot your computer completely ignoring your physical harddrives and work as the pendrive is your main hdd. Its a ready to use OS (slow due to USB) but you can test it around to see if it locks up. If it does your hdd is fine.

My important ones are spread across multiple harddrives, with backups between them, before updating today i additionally did some cloud backups, and the reason for the slight overkill is because i dont trust windows enough, and i know ive got brainfog myself, so i dont trust myself either lol
