Some things in math are definitely more "do this by hand until it is intuitive" and some are definitely more "we are going to do this once by hand so you know how it works and then never again this is awful". Graphing imo is the latter.

Me realizing coding text based RPGs with functional game mechanics and stats and everything on graphing calculators in highschool instead of doing homework is not a typical experience.

What complete idiocy expected an electric startup to add ICE?! Like at this point are they just throwing stuff at the wall to come up with releases sidestepping R2 specs/cost/release.
Is Apple going to announce they won’t be developing graphing calculators?

Totally, but there needs to be *something* if we're graphing them together, hence the question.

Finally, a lot depends on where you're coming in with regard to the growth cycle of the particular sector you're graphing. Frontier tech will always absorb the most investment and reflect the steepest curves. But there's a lot of chaff in there that will be winnowed out.

Whether you consider me a walking nuclear weapon (ignore that it says betavoltaic power supply), or simply an engineer with a few of her screws loose, or something else entirely, you know where to find me 😘

As my old economics advisor always said, though- “you have to mind your stocks a your flows”.
Graphing annual spending vs accumulated wealth is deceptive. One would ideally want to compare income to income- to be apples to apples.

A highlighter blew up in my oldest's backpack, so we washed it. Guess what didn't get taken out? The $100 graphing calculator. Turns out, those things don't like to work after they've been through the wash. (And yes, we tried putting it in rice) *sigh*

huh all of those purely data driven twitter guys who just post the facts aren't graphing some of them exciting new argentina stuff and posting it. that's weird because it makes for some dramatic graphs, which as neutral data guys should be appealing

I'm a Xennial. In high school, I wrote a random number guessing game on my graphing calculator in geometry class to fend off boredom. Certain numbers would return Easter eggs. 14 and 88 returned "Fuck off, Nazi scum!"
Anyway, that's what comes to my mind when Millenials say they had a "Nazi phase".

Another thing I've come to realize about Stewart is that he doesn't treat curve sketching well at all. Is this the "age of graphing calculators" creeping in?
Rigdon (whom I originally learned from at SIUE) did a better job of it, but also weren't allowed calculators there.
