I know someone who used to have this job (determining gifts for visiting dignitaries etc). She is highly educated, thoughtful and professional. The difference between her and giftgirl is so vast, it feels like we aren’t even in the same reality anymore.

I can see GiftGirl, snapping her gum, "Hey, Smithsonian, ya got any good stuff that the Prez can have for his new ballroom? Ya know, medals, furniture, Faberge eggs? Ya know, something to add bling! Just give me a list and I'll pick a few out, m'kay?"

If anyone should have been fired here it should have been "giftgirl".
