I honestly don't know much about the 03 version, but I've heard enough through osmosis to know that FMA03 and FMAB each have their strengths and weaknesses, I remember following someone with very vocal opinions on 03 being better, though I can't really recall what the statements were.

Honestly, that's so valid. I also liked FMA03+movie. I can see why people like Brotherhood more, but I like them both... in different ways, though?? To me, one isn't necessarily better than the other. They're just different. 🤔

I could go on but I'd really recommend just giving FMA03 a watch. It's absolutely brilliant and was far ahead of its time.

My actually nuclear level hot take is that the way FMAB chooses to handle its Ishbalan characters is clumsy at best and bordering on actively racist at worst. The Ishbalans are given FAR more agency, humanity, care and respect in the way their stories were handled in FMA03
*in the smallest voice possible* fma03 is not worse than fmab just because it does not follow the plot of the manga and you should seriously consider giving it a chance because it is a masterpiece of animation, music and storytelling

I am so sick of the revisionism around FMA03 and seeing people say it's garbage and always has been, because at one time it was (rightfully) considered to be one of the greatest anime ever created!!!
