Good News in History, January 6
63 years ago today, Mutual of Omaha’s ‘Wild Kingdom’ was first broadcast on NBC. Hosted by American zoologist Marlin Perkins and filmed by Jim Fowler, the program won 4 Emmys for Outstanding Program Achievement during its original running on NBC every Sunday. ‘Wild Kingdom’ brought the wilds of the Amazon River, the Serengeti, and more […] The post Good News in History, January 6 appeared first on Good News Network.

E1 "We is Us"

Very Large Array is a diva. The book fans deserve Emmys, also omg metacommentary. Jenn getting infected was so upsetting. The news chyrons changing had me howling. I would also like to be left alone in that house in Albuquerque. This was way scarier than I expected! but like, true

It also doesn't hurt that The Vince Staples Show was really good this last season and reminds me of a west coast take on the show. Lots of fun, even if I think Glover is more of a natural lead, and Atlanta's supporting cast is incredible. Lakeith Stanfield deserved many Emmys for this.

I love both! I didn’t really get into BB until MM was over, so I was always annoyed when Bryan Cranston beat our Jon Hamm at the Emmys. Then I watched BB and understood. Great show. And they were both on AMC!

Half a Hitler. But two emmys

I really don’t anticipate getting any love from The Emmys this go around if even The Annies are hardly acknowledging Hazbin tbh.

Maybe we’ll see a shift with Seasons 3 onwards, but it’s looking like this might be a situation wherein it’s not really given its dues until long after it’s ended.

Umm… the Emmys were nominating more Disney Animation stuff.

The Simpsons won that specific Emmy twelve times while Family Guy never won it at all (though contrary to what the latter show itself would like you to believe, it did at least win a couple of Emmys in other categories); that should give you a good idea of what that bias is like.

Because the Oscars are for movies and other theatrical material, not TV content.

The Emmys exist for television programs and they have a Best Animated Series category. Unfortunately, they admittedly are very biased towards the same select few series.

Why ‘Heated Rivalry’ Can’t Compete at the Emmys — and Likely Won’t Be Able to for Season 2, Either
"Heated Rivalry" has become a massive hit for HBO Max, but won't be able to compete at the Emmys.

#HeatedRivalry, a #CanadianTV show, isn't eligible for the #Emmys. Tatiana Maslany of #OrphanBlack had 3 Emmy nominations and a Emmy win. #SchittsCreek won a bunch of Emmys, eventually. Plus, why Global had the story CBS refused to show on #60Minutes.

Canadian TV notebook: No Emmys for Heated Rivalry
The big news last week is that Heated Rivalry is not eligible for the Emmys. The 2024-25 Emmy rules state that a “foreign television production is ineligible unless it is the result of a co-product…

I'm really excited to see what another TWO managers in six months can do to an already woefully unbalanced squad built for four wildly different predecessors.

If this was a Netflix series, it would have all the Emmys and there would be no anxiety about the writers running out of storylines.

I just saw an interview with her where she talks about how she is ashamed of and deeply regrets a Green Acres themed duet she did (as Karen) at the 2005 Emmys with HIM during the era of The Apprentice's popularity.

Shogun, a bilingual 17th-century Japan drama, became an international hit, won 18 Emmys, and will begin season 2 production in early 2026.

Annie Lennox of the Eurythmics was so genderqueer, MTV reportedly couldn't figure out what to do with her or their breakthrough hit, "Sweet Dreams Are Made of This." Just to make the point, she showed up at the Emmys as (a surprisingly good-looking) Elvis. And this was the 80s!

Unfuckingbelievable

NFL 2025 was the wackiest season ever and this was the most fitting ending

The scriptwriters deserve Emmys
Not sure you could ask for a better last game of the season. I am entertained.

[especially since I have no vested interest in this one]

And fuck the Emmys for not doing that

I know i'm watching this from behind and catching up but glad that Janelle James is finally getting recognized for playing Ava on #AbbottElementary. Other than the NAACP Image Award, she gets so many nominations from SAG, Emmys, and Critics Choice and has never won by herself. #CriticsChoiceAwards

You can't just rubber-stamp the four-months-ago Emmys as a far less prestigious organization. It makes no goddamn sense. It's like doing pre-season football after the Super Bowl.

Já temos um favorito ao Emmys?
Matthew Rhys está sensacional!
E a maior surpresa foi saber de que é um script original e não uma adaptação.
Parabéns, Netflix! Até que enfim gastando dinheiro do jeito certo!

Hard to believe it only won 4 Emmys but perhaps the 3 Peabodys compensate.

the bias against horror films/series receiving accolades, along with racism AND homophobia - is the only reason that man doesn’t currently have 2 damn emmys in his possession. idc idc.
