A pure white egret stands out against the green,
its graceful form like a dance in motion.
It reminds me of an old Japanese folktale—
a heron that took the shape of a young woman,
then quietly returned to who she truly was 🕊️🌿✨

Found some turkey tail mushrooms and lots and lots of deer moss on the hiking trail today. Heard a red-shouldered hawk, woodpeckers, and robins, but only saw a silhouette of a robin in a tree and a snowy egret sunning itself off in the distance. #mushrooms #lichen #birds 🪶🌿

Yesterday I visited rice fields, wetlands and shrimp ponds. There was one cluster of Least Sandpipers and one of Semipalmated Plovers.
One 'sole' Greater Yellowlegs. #BirdsSeenIn2026, #Ecuador Have seen very few of either species this 'migratory' season.
Many birds are MIA.
Spooky.

I'm on another unofficial town sorcerer walk right now, which I'll post on my Patreon shortly. I wanted to say that I've come across a snowy egret, a great egret, and a great blue heron all hanging out together.

A Cosmeston walk today & 3 new birds for 2026, none of which made for good photos: a Common gull on the frozen west lake; a fly-by Little egret in the fields behind Cogan Wood; a Song thrush feasting on Ivy.
Also my 1st Ring-necked parakeet at Cossie. And lots of fluffed-up Robins. #birdingWales
