I don’t understand why everyone is so upset about this. Clearly demolishing the White House and building a glitzy ballroom was why working class white voters chose Trump. It was their highest priority! The solution to economic anxiety is obviously rebuilding Versailles! 🙄🙄🙄
White House East Wing demolished, new images appear to show
Trump first said the project wouldn't interfere with the existing White House, but on Thursday satellite images appeared to show the entire East Wing reduced to rubble.

The conversation also made the important point that the ideas of that society can't be separated from the economic foundations of that society. What they said needs to be considered in the context of how they lived, even for the basic step of interpreting what they mean.

By Jaime Magdaleno The 2025 Nobel Prize in Economics has arrived. Institutionalists, economic historians and political economists have again won, this time by Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion and Peter Howitt. This year's award reminds us that prosperity does not come simply from the duality of accumulating capital or protecting industries, but from nurturing a society capable of replacing the old with the new.

Spiritual advisors to the king were educated abroad and no longer understood the message of Buddhism. Eg some claimed that Buddhism was the cause of economic stagnation and mental illness. Had these so-called experts not been educated abroad, no one would have taken them seriously.

America's sanctions on Russia, don't work. Because Trump, never impose tariffs and other on Russia. Trump, just Xi's battle. In the first place, Western sanctions methods, it's very old system and outdated. China's evasion sanctions escalation and more global economic framework become chaos.

Besides the human costs of this, the economic damage caused by so many people having no choice but to either give up their careers and start from scratch or to leave the country must be massive.
